The one great decision Kanye made was working with theater set designer Es Devlin. Her work for concerts is the only revolutionary thing going on in modern pop music.

He may have gone off the rails now, but the first 3 albums were great and they had some genre defining hip hop.

This guy is much better than most shit hoppers, but songs like Heartless (I know its album #4), Touch the sky, goldigger, Roses, Crack Music, Diamonds from Sierra Leone, Jesus Walks and Through the wire are pretty amazing.

Good enough for me to buy the albums, of all the rappers to pick on, I think Kanye is one of the few who should be left alone. Yes he is drowning in his own ego, but come on - he has skillz.

Kanye West is a visionary hip-hop recording artist in a genre where musicianship is not viewed

Just in true fun and to keep things a little honest I will put T (True) or F (False) for each way on the list.

- Can't sing. (True, 808 heartbreak is good but when he's rapping)

- Can't dance. ( True, his wife did get kicked off the stage by the Royal one.)

- Can't play any instruments. (False unfortunately a 808 machine is considered a instrument, oh and he does play keyboard a tiny bit. I do mean tiny)

- Can't create an album on his own. (False, He can do that flawlessly. Hate him or love him but if you love rap since 1998 (Especially Jay-Z fans) then you most likely was listening to his production. Plus his first 3 albums was basically himself.)

- Can't break any records. (False, he just recently broke a billboard record)

- Can't win any awards. (False he have plenty awards including that crappy grammy)

- Can't make it in fashion. (False, when people buying your shoes for $3,500, you made it.)

- Can't avoid living in public. (False, believe it or not he's very private.)

- Can't kick a Kardashian off stage. (True, he do that he will be looking like lamar odom)

- Can't keep a drug problem a secret. (Lol! that's all I have to say for that)

But at the end of the day seriously, musically and lyrically Prince was going after Prince so his talent and standards was on another level or dimension. Kanye West is talented at what is asked of him. The same way people talk about Kanye is the same way they talked about 2pac and Andre 3000 in the past. You know what all of these people have in common....... their all GEMINI's and all got some high ass ego's with demanding attention. That's where the comparisons stop. Nobody will be more talented than themselves and their work and love ethic for the craft they choose. So comparing a artist to another artist is really pointless and actually belittles each artist being compared and causes un-necessary hateful and spiteful comments to be said from people on the outside.

Just think about this, in the 80's if it wasn't for the media starting that Prince vs Michael Jackson and instead focused on both talents. I would love to see threads about the artist thought process behind each song than to keep seeing artist vs artist threads or threads about a artist not being great as someone else that's not even in their lane Pop vs Rap, Rap vs Rock, Rap vs Country, R&B vs Garage Rock/Heavy Metal. But hey who am I...........

Yeezus is a Genius and I'm glad he's not like Prince or anybody else..

Kanye has his own gifts, and his own batch of good songs. He just doesn't have them in the quantity or quality of Prince. And that could be said about most acts in the history of popular music.
