Barkays lead vocalist Larry Dodson to retire at end of 2017 Larry Dodson longtime lead singer of the funky Barkays has announced his retirement after 47 years as their frontman. He will tour with the band the rest of the year meanwhile the band will continue on into 2018 with a new lead singer Larry and James Alexander will recruit.

Um no I got it right. The Barkays have been spelling their name with or without the hyphen for years and making it all one word. In fact their latter day cd's have featured their name on them as one word without the hyphen. I was watching an interview with James Alexander recently talking about the origins of the band and variations on the spelling of the band's name. Don't laugh at my funk
