If it's funk you're after, I'd recommend the album "Loveline" by Diamond Ortiz. Just came out last year. He released another album called "Special Request" which I'd also highly recommend. Old school funk, kind of like Zapp. I'd also recommend anything by the band "Lettuce". Take a listen, you'll hear why.

amongst others.

I mean new stuff from the established artists on the list. Snoops Rap over badbadnotgood's Lavender is worth checking out too. The badbadnotgood album from last year, 'IV', is high up on my playlist for this year though, it's really, really good.
