They've all got classics, and albums fans love (though they didn't sell well). The question is - how many madonna albums can we regard as complete misfires, ala glitter and Damita jo? For me: mdna and rebel heart. . I think it's a draw.

Agree with you on MDNA but not Rebel Heart. While the latter was somewhat of a commercial failure, it actually several good songs on it that helped one get past some of the filler. Not her best, but far from an embarrassment.

Rebel Heart will be a pretty good album if it had less songs. Just 10 or 12 songs.

Madonna by far!

But no Madonna album is better thAn velvet rope.

I miss Jack more than any of these ladies.

Got to say Madonna though. Like A Virgin through to Bedtime Stories is my run. Only occasional interest after that. Really lost interest really after Confessions and the obvious trend-chasing bollocks. Like a Prayer and Ray of Light are my fave Madonna albums.

Mariah was never on my radar, just dislike her completely.

Then you run would be Like A Virgin through Ray Of Light. I don't get why almost everybody despise Music, is a good and interesting album.

For superior discography, I have to go with Janet. I think Madonna might have had the edge for me at one point, but Unbreakable sealed the deal. What a mature, thoughtful, tough, diverse and beautiful album to make 40+ years into your entertainment career. She effectively absolved herself of DJ, 20 YO and Discipline with that one release, and I'm grateful that she did not conclude her career with Discipline as her swan song. (With respect to DJ, 20 YO and Discipline, you can create one good album by hand-picking the best tracks from among them.)

Madonna continues to devolve artistically and dilute her legacy. Hard Candy was ho-hum – she was about three years too late boarding the Timbaland train, and it showed – MDNA was absolutely dire and Rebel Heart was a bloated mess with about ten decent/good tracks. What’s interesting about Madonna is that she peaked, creatively, with Erotica, Bedtime Stories and ROL. Madonna at 60 might not seem so puerile and desperate if we didn’t have the maturity of that crescendo for contrast. I still cannot believe that that artist is now producing trash like “Bitch I’m Madonna” or “Birthday Song”. I rank HC, MDNA and RH in parallel with DJ, 20 YO and Discipline. Hopefully Madonna's next release is as good as Unbreakable.

Mariah is a good songwriter, but I've never looked at her as an album artist. She has enough highlights to make a good hits compilation.

Not entirely related but I think Janet having number one albums in four consecutive decades is impressive as hell and is underapreciated.

Janet by a country mile.

Carey's only good project was the 1st one.

MaDonna......I'm still waiting for a good one.
