All power to them, but I must wonder if there aren't more pressing matters around which to convene these days. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Exactly with everything that's going on in the world today, her fans choose this as their new "movement" ?! LMAO

Her legacy has eroded in the past decade because of her failure to honor commitments, her music fell off and because another generation of stars came into play. The music and videos that were good will continue to stand the test of time. No movement necessary.

While Janet has indeed been Blacklisted by the industry, that is not the ONLY reason why her legacy is underrated. There is a lot that JANET can do to preserve her legacy but for some strange reason she chooses not too. I understand that she has lost interest in the industry given the way she was treated and the changing dynamic of the industry as a whole, however, she can still be musically visible and still introduce her classics/material to a new generation. Janet could release box sets. Janet could release behind the scene footages. Janet could release concert footage. Janet could release collector editions or special edition of albums or singles. Its almost as if Janet has just given up on her career and doesn't care either way where her legacy goes. Even when Michael was ridiculed by the media and industry, he still released box sets, concert footage, special editions and album re-releases. He still fought to maintain his legacy despite the way he was treated (and he had it far worse than Janet). IMO, Janet doe not have strong resilience and has given up on her music career all together. Janet fans care more about Janet's career and legacy more so than Janet herself and that is the sad part and I say this as a long time Janet fan.

she's not very good | |

This is silly. I agree with the comment above, Janet doesn't care. That's obvious. However, her legacy is secured. There's nothing to worry about. Some people are overreacting. Her numbers on Spotify are rising very fast, she is still having No. 1 albums and sales are pretty decent, Pitchfork just rated "Rhythm Nation 1814" better than any album by Beyonce, Adele, Sade, Amy Winehouse, Madonna, Mariah, SIA, Enya and almost any album by any other female artist. It's even rated higher than Thriller and Dangerous, some albums by Beatles, Bob Dylan and so on. She is often trending on Twitter which is very unusual for older artists. She tweet something like "I miss you guys!" and she is trending the whole day. Even here, in Serbia, she was in all magazines because of her pregnancy. Like cover stories, few pages inside... How many artists from the 80s can still be doing all of this? Only cause she's not active and doesn't give a damn, it doesn't mean she's underrated.

Thats not true. Her streaming and youtube numbers could be better. Again, I get it she has nothing to prove but she should be investing in her back catalog. Her legacy is secured but how is the new generation going to know who she is unless she introduces her music in some manner? If the industry is not going to do it, SHE should do it. She doesn't care like you said and that is partially why she doesn't get recognized. Its frustrating being a fan of hers because she has given up on her career and I think its pitiful especially when she has people out here rooting for her. She is blacklisted for sure but she has played a role in this demise too (and this is often minimized by Janet fans). She should be investing in her back catalog and I hate how she has given up. Don't be foolish since the Superbowl however, I think she is done with music so are stituation should be remembered by any artist around today. Anyone can be taken down in the entertainment industry.

Your statement says nothing. Again, since when has her LEGACY been blacklisted? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

My statement is Saying she has been blacklisted to the point were you are not going to see any promotion for any new music she puts out along with scant radio play.
Why would you need this spelled out to you? We are not discussing her legacy. Stay on point.

Europe didnt give anything about the superbowl thing and after All for you her sales dropped drasticly. I dont buy all this blacklisted stuff. Her music just wasnt good anymore. She cancels her tours, which is really not smart.

I think its foolish to insist she has not been blacklisted (because there is evidence that she has and even NFL official said she was) but I notice the people who don't think she has been blacklisted were never Janet fans to begin with, so don't stress about some of those opinions.

We are not talking about Europe. You sales will drop when you have no promotion of your work and no radio airplay. I suspect the record lable was done with her after the Superbowl but did not drop her because they may have had to pay her out.
The last CD she put out is exactly really good and once again no promotion or radio play not even on RnB stations.
You should cancel a tour that is not selling so you do not go broke.

That is something that has not been mentioned on Janet's career fall but I think that is probably what went down at Virgin records. They probably did want to drop her after that whole thing. She was being blacklisted from major channels and radio so I know the label was not happy about that as well as the bad PR. After 20 YO, she did switch labels. I personally think 20 YO was a throw away album made to fulfill contract obligations.

You should cancel a tour that is not selling so you do not go broke. My point about europe is that we didnt care about the superbowl and her sales still dropped. It didnt have anything to do with being blacklisted. Im a huge janet fan but her albums after all for you were hardly as good as before. Her last albums rocks, but peole forget about you when you release several not so good albums. Anyway, i still enjoy her album but waa really dissapointed she cancelled her tour.

Her streaming numbers on Spotify could be better, but as I said they were doubled in the past year, after she verified her account. It was a mess before that. On YouTube her most popular songs aren't even available (That's The Way Love Goes, All For You, Together Again, I Get Lonely...) they are keep on deleting those. So I'm not even counting that. British radio is playing "The Best Things In Life Are Free" more than any Madonna song (that's official). For instance, in the past 30 days, they played Janet 556 times on British radio, Kylie Minogue 492 times, Mariah Carey 420 times, Sade 212 times, Celine Dion 140 times... And that's not even her main market. Too much drama for nothing.

Is it that serious that you have to be all in your feelings about it? While you are so busy trying to be an irrelevant dick, look at the video that was posted by the OP...it clearly says "Janet Jackson fans start a new movement to fight the blacklisting of the pop icon" with #JANETSLEGACYMATTERS. Now back to the topic. My point is this, since the nipplegate incident, it didn't stop her from recording albums, doing videos, or even acting in movies. As I recall, some, if not most, of her albums post nipplegate weren't even that good. Her last album was on point because she regrouped with the producers who helped shape her musical career in the first place. She's still a well known, huge, international star. In my opinion, I don't see where her career has suffered, nor do I see where SHE is concerned about being so-called, "blackballed". I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Exactly. Rhythm Nation tour has had an HD transfer (as show on Oprah 2006). A janet. show has also (as shown on her Instagram). There is a plethora of unreleased J&L remixes, live version, alternate vocals, etc... Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

Oh it's about to be some shit. I don't buy into the blackball bullshit either and I am a fan. I've been a fan before some here been born. Janet is just an aging artist whose time as a dominant across the board artist has come and gone. That doesn't mean she doesn't still get support from black radio or fans of all races at her concert tours. I went to see her on the Unbreakable tour and there were no shortage of white fans there. So just because Janet isn't getting support from pop radio these days or having multiple number 1 hits doesn't mean she's a failure or being blacklisted. Shit Lionel Richie hasn't enjoyed success on pop radio in a long time either. You can add Prince,Tina Turner, Sting, Hall & Oates, etc who enjoyed success on pop radio but their shelf life eventually ran out. Damn Graycap thanks for that pic. That may go my computer screen. Why do you think Janet doesn't care about her career? Is she suffering from depression again? I seriously think she is depressed and not happy.
