One of my favorite Sly tunes.
Nah, I don't think there's someone contemporary today doing this exact type of music... maybe Childish Gambino's last LP can get you funked up in a mellow groove like this one. Personally I like it.

Damn, there are so many... Family Affair, Dance To The Music, Everyday People, Hot Fun In The Summertime... Sly and the Family Stone were played every where when I was a little kid, including the garage band that played them next door to our house and I remember listening through the open window in the spring and dancing all across the room... You're not going to find anyone whose even capable of doing this these days but there are some cool funk artists around these days. Check out Diamond Ortiz. I don't know how to post youtube videos on here but he's worth checking out. I think he's on Spotify too but I'm not sure. Another cool artist I'm listening to is a guy called Boulevards. He's got a song called Tender that I think you might like. I don't have Spotify myself but you might find him there. | |

One of my minor pet peeve's is when people compare new artists to legends, or claim to be seeking "the next ______". Obviously Sly was/is one of a kind, but if you are sincerely looking for some more contemporary artists who are influenced by him, I'd suggest Anderson Paak

I never knew Mica made a video for this song. I love her version of it, though.
