Group's longtime drummer provided "drive and strength" to southern-rock veterans
Butch Trucks, one of the Allman Brothers Band's founding drummers, died Tuesday evening in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was 69. Page Stallings, Trucks' booking agent, confirmed the veteran musician's death to Rolling Stone, but said a cause of death is currently unknown.

According to the police, Butch Trucks used a firearm to commit suicide in the presence of his wife. He shot himself in the head. | |

Yeah I read that. My heart goes out to his wife and family. They said the call she made to 911 that she was so emotional she could barely form sentences but managed to get out the basic info needed to dispatch medics and such....sigh...suicide is never the right answer...it is a permanent fix for a temporary crisis usually.... | |
