Aretha Franklin announces her retirement "Aretha Franklin, the queen of soul, has said she plans to retire this year. She told the Detroit TV station WDIV Local 4, the city’s NBC affiliate, that she planned to record an album for release in September before retiring. “I must tell you, I am retiring this year,” she told reporter Evrod Cassimy. She said her new album would feature production by Stevie Wonder, and she was “exuberant” about it. However, she said that despite retirement, she wouldn’t be stopping completely." theguardian.com/music/2017/feb/09/aretha-franklin-stevie-wonder-announces-her-retirement

That doesn't sound like retirement. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

That doesn't sound like retirement. Well, she deserves to slow down. She's had an incredible career. I've loved her since I was about 8, listening to my mother's cassettes and trying to sing just like Aretha (yeah right) Love her voice, her songs and her spirituality. My music journey started with her and Stevie Wonder. From there to Chaka Khan and from her to Prince. Makes sense, looking back. I love them all.

I just hope at least she'll still do her biopic, I'm still waiting on that.

If it's anywhere near as horribe as her last album, "Aretha Sings the Diva Classics", I hope it gets shelved. Listening to those songs is just downright painful! Clive should be ashamed of himself for tarnishing her legacy like that. [Edited 2/9/17 16:31pm] "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley
