Man, this is a good ass movie. A lot of stuff I had NO idea. I hate how they skipped over the 1986 period when it waqs just four members and Bobby released his first solo album.

Very well said. The biopic certainly gives you a much deeper appreciation for them.

This is a very well made and well acted biopic. One of the best made for TV ones that I've seen...probably since VH1's "The Temptations". Definitely have to give props to BET for this one. Hopefully its a step in a better direction for the network. So for Part 2:

-Damn...Bobby B. was definitely out of control. Nothing new, but yeesh.

-OMG, Bryshere Gray (Hakeem from Empire) is definitely doing his thing in this movie. He even sounds exactly like Mike Bivens in some scenes. I have to say, I love him in this role much better than his acting work on Empire. Perhaps the poor writing on Empire is the culprit.

-Luke James, Luke James, LUKE JAMES!!!! This guy!!!! Now I knew before that Luke James is really good singer, but when he sung Johnny G.'s parts in "Boys to Men" and "Can You Stand the Rain".....HE WAS ON POINT!!!!!! Now I have to go check out Luke's latest album because I've definitely been sleeping on him.

-If I had to make one complaint about the movie, it would be that they focused a little too much on the '83-'85 years. I get that this was the basis of their start and what was to come, but I was itching for them to get on to the NE Heartbreak era.

-When Brook (Wood Harris) returned and they played his theme music, I was dying laughing. Glad to see him back, but that scene was hilarious!

-They really are making it seem like Ralph Tresvant let the ladies walk all over him.

-Lastly, I can appreciate the accuracy in how they are portraying the music industry, how it works and how it is cut throat and sleezy. You have to have some real brains and a legit lawyer to be successful for real. Though reading the fine print in your contract helps too.

In conclusion, as a fan growing up with both The Jacksons and New Edition/Bobby Brown since the late 80's, I must say that this miniseries went where "The Jacksons: An American Dream" should've gone, and edged it off of the top of my list of favorite biopics. I have to applaud all 6 guys for their enormous contributions to this project. It really could've gone many different ways without just one of them. They allowed themselves to be vulnerable and tossed their egos to the side to make the best film they could possibly make. The dilemma I usually find with alot of period pieces is the inability to consistently capture the look and feel of the times they're portraying. You can usually find a few pieces of clothing ("Air Jordans" from 1989 worn during a scene set in 1982) or floating around in the background, or some popular slang terms of today being thrown around 30-40 years before its time. Not as much of that here, thank the Lord! lmao. They weren't wearing "skinny jeans". They were wearing JEANS, with belts, around their waist, sometimes with a shirt tucked in lol. There wasn't a lot of money back in their early days, but the wardrobe dept was so on-point with their threads. Any follower of this group and its spin-off groups and individual superstars knows that there is MUCH MUCH more the writers could've delved into. Hell, Bobby deserves his own 2-part series lol, but they managed to balance the performances with many of their most dramatic and traumatic experiences without boring with a long-form music video or a long-running Tyler Perry movie (no offense, bruh. i love some of those movies though lol). Kudos to the extremely talented cast as well. These guys, as well as the group of well-known actors surrounding them, did an amazing job. N.E. is already a brotherhood, but i'm hoping this movie helped heal more old wounds than re-open them, making them stronger than before. As a fan, i'm really overwhelmed with emotion at the sight of all the roses these men are receiving while they're all still here among us. They deserve all the success they have earned over the last 35+ years.

Well produced, well acted, well scripted, the music was on point and I love that they didn't just hire 6 guys to lip-synch and half dance to NE's music and performances, they actually hired real SINGERS with the capability to dance and act as well. Not an easy feat for sure but they really pulled it off and you can definitely tell the huge amount of time and effort that each actor put into this project. They weren't fooling around, they were serious. As I stated previously, I'm highly impressed with Bryshere Gray after watching this movie. He's really shown how much talent he has. And that LUKE JAMES!!!!! Talk about sexual chocolate for real!!!! He even made JG's shoulder shimmy in the "You're Not My Kind of Girl" performance sexy and masculine. The guy who played Ricky Bell....absolutely love him! This movie as well as the staff, cast and crew deserve a wealth of accolades and awards for this project. Job well done!!!

This will definitely be added to my re-watch list.

I'll have to see the replay value here compared to the Jacksons and the Temptations films. Those 2 have amazing replay value, IMO. Even the Little Richard Story has amazing replay value. It already passes other made for TV bio pics like MC Hammer, Natalie Cole, TLC, Aaliyah and Whitney Houston. The Miki Howard and Michel'le stories were actually good IMO. But it's probably better than those. This actually seemes more like a theater release like the James Brown, Ray Charles or Frankie Lymon films. I need to see if I can watch it mkre times before it loses my interest.

I'm with you on that. Time will tell. I might take a break from the repeats for a little while. I must admit i'm caught up in this moment, because I haven't been this excited about a primetime miniseries event since the Jacksons movie, and the hype for that one was astronomical lol. I've been put-off by so many of those knock-off Lifetime biopics and half-assed biopics that have yet to surface. I had to take into account the incredible attention to detail the entire crew had. Knowing that N.E.'s M.O. is their stage performance, they made that priority #1, and it shows. Let's face it, nobody can dance like Bobby Brown in his day, but the actor portraying him did a very good job. These guys could not only act, but sing and dance as well. As we all can hear, they basically re-created every song performed in the movie. Small complaint: They could've grabbed Al B. Sure's son to play him. That would've blown some folks away lol.

I had no idea about Ralph's struggles with going solo and his miscarriage or that Bobby had a baby while they were on tour together still. The acting is spot on. Luke is a very good Johnny Gill and sounds amazing, that My My My performance tho! Cant wait to watch the rest of part 3. I have been playing all their albums out this past week. I remember them talking about doing this in 2000 when I was still in high school and now finally its done. There is no way they can do it any better! This is spot on!
