2016 wasn't the year of Bowie, Prince, and many others we loved and lost...but it was certainly a good year for Bruce Springsteen... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Radiohead, Beck, Bon Iver, James Blake, Foo Fighters
However, no one can replace Prince. The anticipation of an album every year, the bootlegs, and the great gigs can never be replaced. I miss Prince a lot.

There's tons more Prince to discover. In addition new artists like Anderson.Paak and Childish Gambino (Donald Glover). Redbone is totally Prince. ...every night another symphony...

Harts - The only new-ish artist that truly excites me, and that I see a lot of promise in. He writes, produces, and plays everything himself. I admire his independence and work ethic, and I hope he can break out of Australia this year. Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys) - My favorite project of his is the group The Arcs. He has another solo album coming out this year that I'm looking forward to. Saint Motel - An indie-pop band that I've been following for the past eight years. Their recently released album was one of my favorites of 2016. Tame Impala / Kevin Parker Janelle Monae Maxwell There's dozens of other current artists I listen to, but those are my favorites.

These days I´m more open to new stuff. I also listen to a lot of old school jams, older rap and RnB but as far as new stuff goes, I listen to Vocal Deep House, Miguel Migs, Ron Trent, Black Coffee, , Abra, Doja Cat, J.Cole (definitely J.Cole and Kendrick Lamar.....love their lyrics), and tons of instrumental stuff. And more Prince, lately. But that took me many, many months. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! For me Anderson Paak has been the new artist that has excited me most in recent years. I love his 21016 album 'Malibu'. He combines a whole lot of musical ingredients and production styles that I like and manages to come up with something that sounds very modern but references older musical styles at the same time. He doesn't sound like Prince at all (except one ballad maybe a bit), but to me it feels like he does the same kind of blending of genres and production styles. The music is forward thinking but accessible at the same time. I love it when artists can do that.
I also enjoyed Kendrick Lamar's album, but in the last two years I hve mainly been listening to (electro)funk, boogie and R&B records from the era 1975-1985. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Alabama Shakes Sufjan Stevens Jason Isbell The Weeeknd (just to see if he turns away from his current commercial bent - I'm hoping) Frank Ocean (to see if he becomes more accessible again -I'm hoping) Rhi Rhi (just because I loved her latest album - curious to see what's next)

Oh, definitely Anderson Paak. For some reason I always forget to mention him when I mention new music that I´ve been into. The funny thing is that a friend of mine recommended Anderson´s music to me and I had no idea who he was talking about so I checked out Anderson Paak´s songs on Youtube and he looked and sounded so familiar to me. Then I realized that I had been listening to his music for so long, had it on my MP3 player during my workouts....but under his old moniker Breezy Lovejoy. I wasn´t even aware that he was actually Anderson Paak. Great artist. I listen to him and Kendrick and J.Cole almost every day. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I also like DamFunk (he used to post here on the org) but his albums are a bit difficult to buy. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I love kendrick. Also Beck, Bon Iver, j cole, the wknd, and older stuff I've listened to for years like Simon & Garfunkel and RHCP. Going to check out some of the mentions here. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

Beck's new album, said to be influenced by both The Beatles and Prince. The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!
