Gheez, how horrible. You can come back from a heart attack, but you're pretty much done if you have a cardiac arrest. It's what got MJ.

He and P died at the same age, too. Dude was wacky as hell, but he lived his life like he wanted, and didn't give a shit what anyone else thought. We should all be so bold.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

The mirror had a bit artcile about his various lip enlargement and drag queen surgeries. This guy was seriously twisted and bizarre.

.

Bit rich to call him a star, one huge hit and a few minor singles. The group had 10 Top 75 hits in the UK between 1984 and 1989. You spin me around was a #1, but next biggest hit was the follow up - Lover come back to me at #11, Something in my house reached #12 in early 1987 and In too deep from 1985 at #14. Two more songs reached the 20s, 1 in the 30s and the last 3 singles between 1987 and 1989 bombed at 1 or 2 weeks in the 60s and 70s. Bascially a song that spends two weeks in the 60s is a flop in the UK.

.

It is sad he died, but he got carried away with having the biggest lips on earth and looking the most like a human marionette. He had been a complete has been at least for 30 years. Poor man.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

People used to say the same thing about Prince. When's the last time he had a #1 hit? Or a top 10 hit? or two, or three?

Given this post, I can tell some have no real idea of the impact DOA and Pete Burns had on mainstream and underground culture, fashion, music, and people's lives. comfort

Actually my facts came from the 17th edition of British Hit singles - 2003, not wikipedia.

.

Burns also appeared on Celebrity big brother as a female contestant and was in thenews a few years ago when his fake lips burst and the toxic material in them nearly killed him.

.

The news here mentioned him, but his impact on music was so minimal, they said hsi song was a hit in 1995 not 1985.

It was a decent song though, I had it on my Itunes from some "Best of the 80s" collection, he had presence and definitely seemed to be the talent in Dead or Alive.

.

No one deserves to die at 57, the same age as Prince, although Burns had just turned 57 and was 14 months younger than Prince. Reading Wikipedia, it seems they had a decent career and were huge in Japan.

The Sophisticated Boombox MMXVI set, a set of 19 CD's with all the Dead or Alive albums and Pete Burns solo work. To be released October 29th. Not sure if this was planned before he passed on or not.

.

Sophisticated Boom Box was the name of the first DOA album released in early 1984, Youthquake their second album had the 4 hits on it including the smash hit You spin me round (Like a record).

Of course it was planned

You don't improvise a box set like this in a couple of days. It takes months of work. He had been doing interviews about it

I love me some SAW productions. I wish they'd make a comeback. Everything they did in the 80s was hot!

Agreed, lots of their stuff was either clever or fun, often both at the same time. Total 'popcorn' music, but very catchy and well-done.
