MY END OF YEAR OBSERVATIONS - DAVID BOWIE & PRINCE!!! I wasnt sure which forum to post this in as it also concerns Prince, but, anyway, here goes:
2016 has been a Godawful, horrible year, as we lost in death 2 of the most talented, prolific, iconic, legendary, outerworldly, God-gifted musicians, performers, songwriters the world has ever known(a personal loss for me, I might add, as I was, and still am, a devoted disciple of them both). David Bowie and Prince.

Prince might not have had a will for the same reason millions of more people went this year without making one -- he didn't think he would die that soon (hence the ACCIDENTAL overdose) Maybe do, just not like did before

[Edited 12/23/16 7:09am] --Oh I am sorry Prince did not plan out his death to your specifications. He never cared about his fans so that is the reason he opened his studio to the fans. He was not planning on dropping dead due to mislabled pills and even if he had a will and left everything to his sibs they could be having a massive auction right now it would not mean music would be coming. When the probate is over we will get music in the meantime keep listening to David Bowie and try catching some Holiday cheer.

The thing is NOBODY knows when they are going to die, which makes it even more important to have a will and other legal directives set up WELL in advance!! Its just plain common sense and protection!!Especially regarding famous people this applies to more!! I dont know when I am going to die, but I still have a will drawn up!! And in the case of David Bowie, yes, he knew he was going to die, so he planned alot of stuff to be released after his death, and even gave permission for people to write books and stuff on him for his fans, but then by some miracle of modern medical technology and advancements his cancer could have gone into remission and he would still have still been alive today and possibly for at least another 10 years or so!!!

[Edited 12/24/16 8:19am] Prince had all of the publishing he owned placed it in an LLC we do not know how the LLC was structured but it can set up separately a way from the estate. He did have manager for the LLC and they appear to still be in the picture. So he may have made provisions for the music. In the end wills can contested so there would be no guarantee that things would have gone smoothly if he had one.

I think your way to close to the situtaion to judge with a clear mind. Your obviously a spited prince fan looking across the field where the grass appears to be greener. Prince didnt expect to die david bowie did so it makes more sense for him to have his affairs in order. Also prince turned his back on the main stream and thats beginning to surface in the way of publicity and the care factor of regular people. Prince obviously cared abut his fans and was an unothedox man with unotherdox ways of doing things. Dont expect anything greater to happen in his death than in his life as an mj fan that is very clear to me and it will eventually become clear to you.

What I have taken from both deaths, is that for US the public neither was expected. No one in the public knew Bowie was Ill and no one in the public ever knew a thing about Prince's private world, so whether PRINCE was in agonizing pain, had a surgery, had an addiction we will never know. And the good thing to me is that even those around PRINCE the very close ones, ones that were with him the last few years, all have never had a word to say in an ill way. Whether they knew something was going on, they respect him to stay quiet. And that is similar to what those around BOWIE did, a very small circle knew David was dieing, but no one spoke, no one sold their stories, no one went to twitter, no one leaked photos etc.... And in a time of all this social media where we know what celebs are doing every second and when they take a shit we know it or they feel the need to tell us about it. These two lived and died privately. As I said to someone a month after PRINCE died. I said I really don't care what an autopsy says, if he OD'd if he took something by accident etc...I heard all the scenarios down to the idea he was murdered and I really could care less, he is gone and that part of my world was gone, and that was important, what a test or doctor say isnt going to clear things up for me. But I look back ironically 25 years to the death of Freddie Mercury, now the time was different, there was no social media however, FREDDIE had to hide, he was not allowed privacy, as he laid in his bed photogs hid in the bushes and scaled walls, they camped out and hid in corners and alleys trying to snap a photo of him dieing. But i was honored to hear years later from his band members that they LIED in every interview when pressed on his health, they covered for him, respected and loved him, and WE the public had no right to know those things, and I feel that way now as Bowie and Prince are gone. We have a right to know what they want us to know. Bowie was well aware and in poor health. PRINCE even if he knew and in pain was NEVER gonna let that be known. As for releases that have come out, BOWIE had just released a knew album and PRINCE had phase II which is a totally different vibe. Since death its insanity to equate the LOVE they have gotten, I saw the same amount of magazines about their lives come out, in fact PRINCE had many more dedications and full issues. Prince and Bowie were very private and the last decade between Bowies last album and the "NEXT DAY" album he was very much out of the spotlight PRINCE was never really gone, he always had something out except really in the time after LOTUS FLOWER which is where people have said that "surgery" and pain kicked in. But in the end PRINCE's plan may have been to not have a will, David had a wife kids etc...Prince had NO ONE. Also PRINCE's belief was that in the end MONEY has no power. SO he might have wanted it this way, no will, no fights because what is their fight over?? Will the vault be open etc...all these issues are what we are talking about, and to be honest it is selfish. I get the fact we want music, yes I want it too. BUT lets take this scenario, say PRINCE never was going to release anything from that vault and he LIVED to age 85, now think of your self 28 years from now, are you going to be running to stores and wondering when are you getting that studio version of "open book" or "empty room"? Prince or any other artist is under no obligation to "care" about fammies, especially posthumously. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I believe Prince cared about his fans. He gave it his all on stage and in the studio. A lot of people did nice and thoughful tributes to Prince and I can see the tributes growing in time. The man just died not too long ago, what is the big rush to release music, books, etc? If Prince was not so prolific, it would be nothing to demand or expect. Prince took care of family and friends. It is well documented. He gave to people and causes that mattered to him when he was alive and did not make a big deal about it. I believe Paisley Park will be successful, it's just the matter of getting things in order and seeing what works and what dosen't. I just ordered some merchandise from the Paisley Park website. It came in the mail in a timely fashion. As for not having a will, it is what it. At the end of the day will or no will how much can you control after you leave this world. Oh i have seen the same, the ANGER over the 4EVER release, the "Im not buying it" talk and yet I am sure most of them were first to buy it. With PRINCE i still feel the same petty arguments are coming out in LIFE and now in DEATH. When are you going to release this, you should release that, why this compilation, etc....As for his death we will never know because we don't know how it all started why it started and also those last moments. We can guess and I am sure his family did not even know the truth. If band members, if Judith Hill who performed with him that night that he lost conscious on the plane while she spoke to him had no clue what was wrong, then he really was keeping this secret. For all we know he was trying to find a way out of this addiction without involving the world, we are talking about a man that really is private and also never has had a scandal I mean really has he? and don't can't the name change because he created that himself, I am talking some drama health scandal or addictions etc... NO he didn't and I do not doubt he was scared that this was happening and knew that it would get out. This is not a guy who had tons of friends that he hung out with etc..he woke alone and slept alone and spent most days alone, unless playing then he called you into his world.
