Does anyone know why this song was never released on her first album or released at all back then? I know it was released later on in 1997 on the Pre-Madonna CD, but most people have never even heard of it. What a shame and a waste that it wasn't on the Madonna album. It could have been a hit.

Well Its Sounds Similar to borderlines n lucky star songs so what can u do but compare it to each other....But Me Likey.....
I feel the same way about "Don't You Know",a 1981 track that also appears on the 'Pre-Madonna' CD.That song definitely should have been on her debut album,in place of the so-so "I Know It".

I agree about Don't You Know. I also like Stay ('81), Ain't No Big Deal ('81) and Get Up ('81) and others.....they ALL should have been on the first album!

It's a very strong song, I like it. I feel like it evolved into Physical Attraction though, so maybe they ended up using that.
So cool that you just posted this, because I recently found my old "Pre-Madonna" cd that I bought around 1998 and haven't listened to it in years, until now, and I was playing "Crimes of Passion" on repeat and thinking what a good song it was. There is some connection between this and "It's Passion" by the System (David Frank & Mic Murphy) but I don't remember the whole story. I wish I could find the interview where David Frank talks about it, but I think he didn't use the title "Crimes of Passion" for his song because Madonna had just written a song by that name, and they were both going to be putting records out (I could be remembering this incorrectly...)
