Couple of great second-tier later offerings not yet mentioned are Urban Dancefloor Guerillas, Blacktronic Science and Straight Outta P University. Hard to pick, but fave albums from some of the main acts are ..... One Nation Under a Groove, Mothership Connection, Ahh .... The Name Is Bootsy, Baby! and TAPOAFOM. Bonus pick: The Mothership Connection Tour rehearsal album Newberg Sessions.
If you've got funk, you've got style.

IMHO, A jam for sure, and the 12 incher really rolls. But weakest track on the album.

Can't go wrong with any of the great Bootsy efforts. Straight Ouuta P had me going all thru the late 90's. UDG may be the most well-produced, slickest album in all of P-Funkdom.

Instead of posting a lame "it's all good" reply, I'll force myself to do a top10 list:

Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On
One Nation Under A Groove

Mothership Connection

Chocolate City
Free Your Ass And Your Mind Will Follow

Funkentelechy vs. The Placebo Syndrome
Gloryhallastoopid (if you overlook "Party People", it's actually a pretty bangin' record)
Funkadelic (the first album)

Tales Of Kidd Funkadelic (I like it cause it's noisy!)
Let's Take It To The Stage

Yeah, too much goodness to pick from.

America Eats Its Young and Trombipulation are the weakest ones from the bunch. Osmosis I don't usually even consider a P-Funk record, but it's got a few great cuts.

The best GC "solo" album is You Shouldn't-Nuf Bit Fish, I think.

I don't have strong opinions on Bootsy's solo work.

No Margot Brain?

It's not in my TOP10. shrug

I've always preferred Free Your Mind over it.

Maybe I'm just being an elitist and don't even fully realize it. wink

I had wanted it but could not justify the investment since it came out but was finally able to cop a copy during a trip to Amoeba Records in Hollywood, CA, in September. This set exceeded my expectations, especially the DVD. The band sounds great and it is of such high quality and in a casual, rehearsal-like setting. Funktastic!

EXCELLENT Parliament album - they're still at the top of their game, despite the defections of Glenn Goins & others. the only track on this album that I don't really like is "liquid sunshine". everything else - BAM.

This is my favorite one. Hard to choose. I remember during the winter of this year me and my

cousins were snowed in for 3 days at my grandmother's. No school. We would play cards and funk to this album all day. They started to lose steam on the Gloryhallastupid album.

.

I also (totally) agree that Parliament started to decline with this album. too many drugs. too many pots on the stove. too many defections..
