The Weeknd has revealed the title and cover art for his latest studio project.

The artist posted the art on his Twitter Wednesday. It features a photo of him sitting with his hands on top of his head, staring into the camera and wearing black leather, all tinted blue.

The album's title, STARBOY, is displayed above and behind The Weeknd's head, with the entire thing against a red background.

"NEW ALBUM COVER / TITLE shot by NABIL #STARBOY," the caption states, referring to video director and photographer Nabil Elderkin, who's previously shot visuals for the Weeknd.

There is no release date yet.

Fans have been anxiously awaiting news about what The Weeknd had in store for the follow-up to his smash-hit album Beauty Behind the Madness. Now, it looks like they have their answer.

Wednesday, The Weeknd revealed the cover art and name for his next album. Titled Starboy, the cover, which was shot by Nabil, shows The Weeknd in dark black and blue, flanked by a bright red background and yellow lettering. He's also wearing a crucifix on the cover. One thing fans are sure to notice is the fact that it appears The Weeknd has cut off his signature hair, appearing instead with a short hairstyle. You can check out the cover art above.

Not much is known about the contents of the album, but The Weeknd did reveal some details about his creative process recently. “There are new inspirations on this album. The production feels aggressive but still sexy," he told VMAN. "The Smiths, Bad Brains, Talking Heads, Prince, and DeBarge play roles. We wrote it all in Los Angeles. I think it’ll be the best-sounding album I’ve ever done. It’s hard to label the sound because, when I first came out, nobody would label it R&B. I just want to keep pushing the envelope without it feeling forced."

"Even though I’ve been putting out bodies of work for years, Beauty Behind the Madness felt like the beginning,” he went on to say. “My purpose is to make exciting music, and I feel like I’ll be doing that for the rest of my life, so there’s no pressure. Nothing is stopping me from doing what I love to do.”

Starboy follows Beauty Behind the Madness, which was by far The Weeknd's most commercially successful album to date. It spawned the hits "The Hills" and "Can't Feel My Face," and went on to be one of the best-selling albums of 2015. It even picked up a pair of Guinn...ld Records, becoming the most streamed album on Spotify in a single year and earning the most consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 by a male solo artist.

There's no release date for Starboy yet, but with this cover reveal, The Weeknd is clearly kicking off the album's promo. We can't wait to see what comes next.

"Still sexy"? When did Weeknd's sound ever even resemble sexiness?

Anyway, hope this is better than BBTM, a generic at best pop album.

This is arguably a seduction song, and a good one at that.

The Weeknd has been announced as the musical guest for the season premiere of SNL.

The episode, which will feature Margot Robbie as host, is set to air October 1. Abel is expected to perform the single “Starboy” and debut another new song off his upcoming album (possibly “False Alarm?”). Source: TIRNB

It ain't superficial at all...I'm glad that he cut his hair too! Some folks need to cut their hair. Now if we can just get Allen Iverson to cut his and stop rocking them 1999 cornrows, then I can rest. lol

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I'd want to be critical of his recent output, but I've now listened to the new single several times in a row. I just get hooked to his stuff, no matter how silly I think the lyrics are and how obviously his appeal relies on mannerisms he's borrowed from Michael Jackson.

They're definitely silly, but I can't laugh him off like other mj imitators cause he's actually really talented and tongue in cheek. I have reason to believe based on his previous output.

I was reading that the new album Starboy was inspired by Michael Jackson. Don't know if it's true or not...

I like the new look. A lot of the songs on the last album seemed to channel MJ as well.

Me too. That Foghorn Leghorn rooster do was working my nerves.

He has an interesting voice. I'm going to check him out to see if his material is getting better.

I loved Worth It and a couple of others.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

The Weeknd is my Boy, but the first time I heard Starboy I thought it was a bunch of fuss...The techno-vibe thing did not work for me....Now that I've listened to it on the radio many times I like the song...
