Mr.Maxxx, I like you boy, you know that don't you? But how I'd ENJOY kicking yo ass 4 posting such a thread lol I mean c'mon now, I would expect you 2 make a "Mary Vs Faith" "Lauryng Vs Alicia/India" and "Erykah Vs Jill" thread but a "Mary Vs Lauryn/Erykah" thread? Both are waaay different talents, Mary is str8 street music, Lauryn is str8 poetic music and Erykah is str8 spiritual music. There's no way in hell you could compare these ladies!!

And 2 be honest? It would break my heart to choose one of them over the other cuz I LOVE 'em all 2 my core(esp Mary) but musicaly,,I wouldn't choose none of them over the other cuz all of them make healing music and to me HEALING music is str8 healing no matta what shape/material/sound you use on them.

that's why you break things done.ask yourself something:all three have been involved with Rap/Hip-Hop in there Music I'm sure one of them does it better than the others? I'm sure that One of these three to you has a chance to go into Legendary Status easily.it's not that hard for me.Mary J.Bliege is gonna be the One to Last of the three.Badu has the Hip-Hop Soul balance but doesn't blend the Pop Balance like Lauyren Hill.they all take on all elements but Mary J.Bliege seems like She will easily go beyond what's out now.Lauyren Hill Seemed like She was gonna Dominate but unless She can rebound seems almost done.Badu always drops a Jam but is very Hit&Miss as a Artist IMHO to Hang with Mary for the long haul.

Damn..which question do I answer first??

Well in the order I'd put them..
Lauryn - composing
Mary J. - producing/singing
Erika- pass! bored Only liked "On and On" & "Bag Lady"

I love Lauryn's songs and her voice as well. Mary has the vocal power, and her songs are really well produced. I think these two will be around for a very long time. Liked Mary's first album..then couldn't stand her. Then 'rediscovered' her, if you will. "No Drama" was a brilliant cd. Didn't care too much for Lauryn's unplugged. But respect her all the same. They have worked together right??

Comparing them ladies is like comparing R.Kelly 2 Eric Benet & D'Angelo but [somehow] I get yo point,,,even tho I don't like doing it but I'll try.

Mary is doing her thang in the game for 12 years and after the "No More Drama" props are coming into her way from everybody. Its very strange to feel VERY OVERLOOKED despite what you're doing in a long period of time to feel all of a sudden VERY RESPECTED,,,I don't that feeling at all. I guess she was determend 2 get her dues either the easy or the hard way. Mary is already a legend!

Erykah Badu's stuff is Anti-everything out there thats why she gon be remembered from her unique sound.

L-Boogie is my baby man, you look 2 her eyes and you see PURE BEAUTY. Anyway, that sistah will make this music biz go bananas if she appeared again,,I just hope she get her shit 2ghether cuz seems 2 me that her personal life is in shamples right now(4 whateva reason) not that I care about her personal life but I'm basicaly saying if the personal problems are CRUSHING you already then you may not be able 2 handle the biz problems. However, I have a faith that she'll comeback stronger than eva.

okay, let's see:

best singer? MARY J

best catalogue? MARY J

better live show? can't say, haven't seen any of them live.. of the 3, I'd only pay
to see Mary J
(hey! that rhymed!)
smile

shows the most overall Musical growth? MARY J

(does anyone see a "trend" here?)

the most Influence over the Newer Female Singers out now? "more time" needs to pass before this can really be answered.. still, I'd say MARY J

who will be remembered the most in 25 years? MARY J

which of the three is Overated? Erika Yahoo

a few more categories, of a more "frivilous" nature:

best looking: MARY J
BY FAR

most impressive, physically: MARY J
(OH, that ass!)
"honorable mention" to L.Hill.. REAL nice thighs, circa that "killing me softly video, in the cinema..)
Erika Wazoo: "pizza & beer diet", as in.. get on it, girlfriend!

best "Behind The Music" documentary: MARY J
(ah, wait- neither L.Hill nor Erika Kalamazoo has a "BTM" doc..!)

of these 3, MARY J will most likely be the 1st to be elected into some sort of R&B "Hall of Fame", & NOT JUST because she was the 1st of these 3 to release an album
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

I REALLY DON'T have anything personal against Erika Baboo
(!)
I simply have yet to see what all the "fuss" is about..

she DID make 1 song that doesn't totally nauseate me.. that "I'll see you next lifetime, or next week" or whatever it was..

While BRAINLESSLY flipping channels recently,
(as I am occasionally wont to do)
I saw her on some awards show, with her HUGE afro, & she was like buggin' out, mugging in front of the camera, just hogging EVERYTHING from the 2 co-presenters with her..

what THE HELL was that about?

personal nonsensical quirks aside..
her singing style (as I've heard this said before, & I happen to agree with it) is quite..

"derivative"..

or, look at it this way:

I like Erika Achoo more than I like that ATROCIOUS
Macy Gray...!

(DON'T GET ME STARTED THERE!) disbelief
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

stymie

Mary J. Blige-minus all the remakes. She has the pipes to stand up to anyone else. I love Lauryn and Erykah but they are not soul singers. Mary speaks to my soul.

Rhondab

shrug

I think they all bring something to the table. I don't think there is a comparasion. They ALL are soul sistas that bring a different vibe and experience to the music. I love them all and don't find the need to even think about who will be around 10 years.

BIG UP to all three ladies.
