Anybody familiar with The Girls?

I was reading through the August 25, 1984 edition of BB magazine, the headlining topic of which was of Minneapolis and the ccity' contributions to music that year.

Of the many artists mentioned (including the Purple One, himself) one now-obscure and largely unknown group called The Girls were on the verge of releasing their debut album. Apparently Andre Cymone produced it as well but beyond that little to nothing is known about them.

Does anybody *coughcough*MickeyDolenz*cough* have any info on them?

P.S.
For those who are interested, I found this and many other Billboard issues here: http://www.americanradioh...gazine.htm

Nearly every issue of Billboard between 1938 and 2011 can be read here in a crisp, quality PDF format.

SoulAlive

I remember reading about them in a 1984 Rock N' Soul magazine and they didn't like being compared to other sexy girl groups."Unlike Vanity,I mean Apollonia 6,we can sing",said one member."And although we also sing about sexual topics,I think we do it with a little more taste than they do".

eek

I love The Girls album.

There's actually an unreleased alternate version of "Don't Waste My Time" that's even better than the released version.

Someone involved with the album (Possibly Bam Bam Morgan, Andre's drummer from Chanhassen) posted it on MySpace and maybe also here on the org years and years ago. I downloaded it at the time, and it's my go-to version, over the released version. Pure stanky Minneapolis funk.
