I agree with you to some extend, but she is not more overrated than Adele, and look how huge Adele's sales are, Beyoncé has got very good songs throughout his carreer.

Beyonce is the most overrated pop star of all time. She has more grammies than Michael, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Sly, Marvin, Funkadelic, and she is about 5 awards away from being the most awarded ever.

She is definitly more overrated than Adele Lol. Adele also makes much better music and is a better singer.

Better music... i'm not so sure, by her third album i'm sure Adele's formula will get old.

Of course she has more awards than them, because The Grammys keep chopping and changing their categories, hence she has more chances to win these awards......plus she hasn't got that much competition. The same thing applies with Drake's recent AMA nominations......he has more that MJ because their are more categories today than there was in 1984.

Very good points and thanks.

I think its a mixture of all the things you said

Its due to the lack of competition in today's market, the increase in categories as well as her being a token industry darling and I also believe she buys a lot of her awards. This year she won 8 vma's but I didn't hear any of those songs on the radio nor did MTV play any of those videos so how did she get all those awards??? Another shady thing about the show was that neither Drake or Rihanna won anything but they both had two of the biggest number on singles this year. eek So...something in the milk ain't clean and there seems to be an industry agenda when it comes Beyonce. How is she getting all these awards with low sells and low number singles compared to her peers?

Why do you feel the need to compare her to them. At the end of the day beyonce is talented and works very hard and is really good at what she does. And as of late she been really experimenting musically growing and developing as an artist.

So you think "I fuq my man good and take him to redlobser" or "suck on my balls" or " surfboard on me" or "Im spinning with my hands up and Im flexin" or "Bow down bitches" or "eat the cake anna mae" Mind you these were Beyonce lyrics in her so called "hit songs" so you think this trash is better than an Adele song? I am not the biggest Adele fan but she definitly makes more quality music than Beyonce. It might not be innovative but at least the lyrics are relatable and not so deragotory or vulgar. I am not here for this Beyonce propaganda. Her music is trash.

That is your opinion which you are perfectly entitled too. However my opinion is different and I am also entitled to that. I think she is a very medicore talent, average singer and average dancer who is greatly benefiting of the decline of the music industry and I also think she makes trashy degrading music which she doesn't even write.

Also, I brought them up because a poster said she was in a league of her own....no she is not. There is nothing unique or groundbreaking about her or anything she is doing. A poster even brought up Madonna and compared her to her smh.... I see finding good music must be a struggle these days!

I don't think she has peaked yet....IMO I think she has yet to put out a classic album that will last the test of time (like a Purple Rain, Off The Wall or Songs in the Key of Life).....she got pretty close with I Am...... Sasha Fierce in 2008.

I personally don' t think Beyonce will ever produce an album that will stand the test of time.,. she is not a unique or gifted talent like Michael, Prince or Stevie, not only are those albums classics but they are iconic and at this point in Beyonces career, she has passed her comericial peak.

To answer your question; Yes. Lemonade is her last great album. Surprise-dropping albums will now become predictable. She had her more-than-fair
share of critical acclaim and superstardom. Good sis Beyoncé can now enjoy the cultural status she has worked so long (and paid so much) to achieve.

And she can thank the thousand writers/producers she recruited while she at it lol

It was really a statement that success makes people feel some type of way there nothing false about that analogy. But Beyonce simply isnt for you, different strokes why even waste your time commenting about her when your indifferent or dislike her?

I think some artists are meant to last till the end of time and meant to make generational music and some are not. Beyonce is not one of those.

No you tried to compare what Michael endured to me making a criticsm on Beyonce, please stop it and no the analogy was silly and I responded in this thread because I can. I came to answer a question and to discuss and if you have a problem with it that is not my problem. You don't get to decide what someone should or should not comment on.

I think your being way to defensive or offensive. First of all you cant tell me what I meant. I was specifically speaking about the success and popularity of an entertainers (whoever that may be beyonce, mj etc.) makes people who dislike them feel hot and bothered or pressed. Dont change my words.

Secondly I didnt tell you if you should comment on a post or not I just questioned why comment if its not your thing.

I am not getting defensive but I found it disrespectful how you tried to compare Beyonce to Michael and what he endured. This is what you said.

That is making a comparision by implying that they get similiar criticism treatment for similiar reasons and they don't. Michael was blackballed and ridiculed because of what he stood for and because he was a threat to the White agenda. Beyonce is an overrated singer and people are perfectly entitled to have that opinion it has nothing to do with being pressed or "hating"

You seem to be bothered that I find her overrated by insisting I must be a hater or pressed. Why is everyone entitled to like her? I don't owe you any explanation, this is a discussion board and I responded because I had an opinion I wanted to express....period. It aint rocket science.

I've always thought people liked Beyoncé for her image and personal life. She's a solid performer but her music is overrated as hell. That's why she has what?..5 #1 singles and doesn't have as many as legends before her time.

Outside of a performer she just isn't that great

Will we even know that until her popularity and sales descend markedly? Because my sense is megastars in the 21st century don't make money on records as much as they make it on touring and promotional deals.

You're right. However, I think what the OP is speaking on is she able to get a #1 again or that's it for her and I would say with the way she and her team does things, I would say yes. Now you can argue that #1 songs don't equal popularity. Streaming is supposed to be the thing that reflects the popularity of a recording entertainer now but what if an artist is a streaming giant but their albums only sell wood. How popular are they really? How big is their brand, really?

Good points. Stardom and career status are less quantifiable these days.

If a song is #1, is it about the song or the entertainer? Because the casual entertainer aren't usually major fans of an entertainer. If it is a "bop", they stream it usually. Singles don't even sell like they use to. The Casual entertainment fan is likely to stream a song than buy it. So for me, it's about an entertainer making their brand big enough, having a loyal fanbase big enough that they don't need massive #1s to continue to have longevity in the industry.

Right. It's hard to move singles, and even harder to move albums these days. That's why artists have to leverage their brands across a ton of different platforms, as you've said.

When you speak of "fans", are you talking about " The Bey Hive", her loyal fanbase that keeps her popular and relevant nearly 20 years into her career whether she was with DC? Or the Casual Entertainment fan? Cause no one is forcing anyone to buy her work. You either like it or you don't? That's like telling a restaurant to close their business every 5 years so that the consumer can miss their product.

My point is that most of her fan base love what you're articulating about her pattern of releasing albums, singles and touring like that as well as love Lemonade. Think it's her best work yet(and critics agree with that btw) and look for her performing and music brand no matter how frequent it is. You're probably not part of that fanbase. That's fine but I wouldn't speaking for "The Hive" especially if you're not part of it.

I'm really talking about anyone who likes her music, not just the fanatical Bey Hive. I never said anything was forcing a purchase. Rather, it's the level of promotion. It's absolutely insane. As I stated, it's the album, then singles, then the video album, then the tour. It's a long ass campaign. Mrs. Carter started so quickly after the previous album & tour promotion ended. Where did she even breathe?! Comparing a restaurant closing is illogical. Yes, we don't have to buy either product, but restaurants don't have albums, videos, interviews, magazine covers, perfumes, clothing lines, visual albums, singles, tours, or are part of a power couple that is covered 24/7. It's apples and onions.

I don't think anyone has to be black or white in "either you like ______ or you don't". Some people can take or leave any artist, whether Bey, Prince, MJ, or whoever. Some artists are not on folk's radar, while others are passionately loved or hated. And I totally get what you're referring to with the Bey Hive promoting her, and keeping her shit alive. I really do enjoy her. Her shows are great and a spectacle, she can certainly sing, her songs (albeit a mystery as to who writes what) are catchy. It's a good package deal. I own about half of her album releases, including BEYONCE. The deluxe 4-disk edition, by the way. I was so obsessed with it. I must have played it twice a day back then. "Blow" and "Partition" and "Yonce" were my jams. I loved the nasty nature of them. "XO", "Heaven", "Superpower" are great songs, and the JTimberlake co-written "Rocket" is sexy as fuck. Lemonade is taking me a bit to get into, but I do enjoy it. I still haven't even sat down to listen to Solange's new joint yet.

I'm totally not part of the hive. But I do love me some Bey...when I get a break between projects. Really though, you could compare the Bey Hive to the purple army base. It's never enough for us, while others think it's too much.
