I'm glad it was figured out. But can I say without being negative - I hate the song. LOL Seriously, it's bland as fuq to me. But I am happy the mystery was solved. I do enjoy music hunts like this. We all have our songs that we enjoy, even if others don't. That's what's great about music. For me, Oxo's "Whirly Girl" is one of those.. It's truly a one-hit wonder, but I dig it.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

thank you Jabar...after it was found out who it was...i looked

up to see what if anything he did....

Aretha helped him out...Mahilia Jackson godson...

the song "Didn't We Do It" hit R&B chart in May 1982...went as high as #74

but then he had another song released in Sep 1988 on Epic records...

"Back On Track" went to #43 on the R&B charts (great song!)

You're welcome. Glad I could be of service. Upon first listening to the song I was getting some Aretha Franklin vibes from this Billy cat. After a bit of googling I learned they are actually siblings.

While we at it does anybody remember an old R&B song from the 70's that

had in the lyrics Mother Hubbard in the Cupboard How does your garden grow

then something something something. I remember hearing the song on the radio

when i was in elementary school quite often but never knew the name of it.

I probably need TD3 for this one. lol

Uptempo. Male singer singing but don't know if it was a band or solo artist.
Have a nice groove to it. Song is from 1975 or 1976.

I don't recall any R&B song in the 70's .... that used a nursery rhythm in there lyrics. I'm gonna have to ask my brother about those lyrics. lol

Cool I remember this song and probably haven't heard it in damn near 40 years lol but this isn't the song I was talking about. The sad thing is I know the melody in my head. It's not as funky as this but it has a nice mid tempo groove.
