I need help finding an old song

I've been searching for this song like forever, but I don't know the name of it. I do, however, know some of the lyrics and the chorus, here's an exampple:

I know its over, cause we're in different worlds and as we say our goodbyes

and the chorus

Did we do it, did we do it? Yes, yes we did.

Does anybody know this song and who sings it? It might be The Deele, but I don't know.

I'm sure if you nailed down a section of the lyrics that you're sure of, and googled them in quote marks then something would come up. The quotes look for that specific phrase as is, so be sure of what you're putting in.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Been there, done that, no results.

Is it a ballad, mid tempo or uptempo?
About what era? 70s, 80s, 90s?

Style, live instruments, computer and Synths.

Male, female, group, duo?

Tenor, soprano, baritone?

Does it sound like a Babyface production since you think its by the group The Deele, a R'n'B group from the early 80s that he worked with http://www.allmusic.com/a.../biography

I already know about The Deele, but I've been trying to figure if this song is by them. I haven't heard this song in years, it was in 81 when it came out. I don't know the name nor the group or artist who sings it, but I do remember it. It's a sad song and I know some of the lyrics and chorus, just can't put the puzzle together on it.

Was it a single? Album track? Could it be from 1980?

I've been through this, trying to remember a song. What helps me to remember is if I associate things with the song. For instance: When Around The World In A Day came out, I first listened to it in a friend's car. I also remember it was the first clear plastic cassette I ever saw/bought. So if I ever have to remember "What was that Prince album called?" (AS IF), I can remember when/where I was when I heard it, and help me pinpoint the moment in time. Then I can focus more on the item/song itself.

So try remembering where you were, who you were with, etc., when this song meant something to you or stuck out. Concentrate on that surrounding, then focus in on the music. It's almost like a process of elimination. You can only hear one song at a time, so find that time first, then focus in on the song.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I know, but this is a rare song and I've been trying to search for it for ages and so far, no luck.

If you remember what station you look that data up. And see what was being played that time of the year.

That'll be really hard there, cause I listened to a lot of radio stations when I was younger at that time.
