11. All had a fairly messed up upbringing.

12. All were incredibly talented performers that attracted hordes of devoted fans, some like me were huge fans of all 3 artists.

To answer the question: They are the same age; I consider them "the big three" of the eighties because they took the music world/ MTV by storm; they have many imitators, but will never be duplicated.

1. Herb Ritts took photos of them

2. All three have "acted" in movies

3. All three have won Grammys, AMAs, MTV Awards and haved been inducted in Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame

I think one thing they have in common is they are all fairly musically eclectic and incorporated different genres into their music.

That's why if you listen to their discography you don't get bored. They have many different phases to their musical output.

Whereas with some artists, even though they are good, they kind of write the same song over and over again.
