Teddy ruled R&B radio (with some Pop hits) from about 1987's Keith Sweat's "I Want Her" - 1992 with Michael's "Dangerous" album? Michael jumped on the train late but I wasn't mad. "Dangerous" was NJS's last great run. I'm sure there were other sporadic hits that he was behind such as Hip Hop classic "The Show" by Doug E. Fresh, or "Go See The Doctor" by Kool Moe Dee but it was his co-production on "I Want Her" that put him on the map. - Yep Yep....He should be a very rich man right about now. Such a shame. = Happy B'Day Teddy. [Edited 10/11/16 19:04pm]

- I'm not sure what his situation is now but if I recall correctly he ended up broke for a number of years. Hopefully he turned things around for himself.

- Dope stuff. I still say, TJ's 2 was the best in the series. Mind you, I only heard 1 - 3.

Teddy Riley to Receive Legend Award at 2016 Soul Train AwardsSoul Train Awards | Shanis Navas | 10/12/2016 | 04:56 PM EDT
(Photo: Prince Williams/FilmMagic) The king of New Jack Swing rightfully honored with coveted Soul Train Award. He was the genius production behind Michael Jackson's "Dangerous LP" which sold over 32 million copies worldwide, a founding member of platinum groups Guy and Blackstreet, and is known as the creator and the king of New Jack Swing.
There's no question then, why three-time Grammy Award-winning producer, singer-songwriter, musician, artist and technology expert Edward Theodore "Teddy" Riley will be the recipient of the 2016 Legend Award at this year's Soul Train Awards.
A true visionary, Teddy Riley created the New Jack Swing sound that forever changed R&B and Hip-Hop music and was also the first African-American producer to bring the sound of Korean Pop (K-pop) to the U.S.
Righfully so, he has earned his place among legends like the 2015 Legend Award honoree Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds.

Has anyone done a documentary on the New Jack Swing era? If not, one is needed. Although I was in elementary and middle school during those hey day years, the music sure was fun and brings back great memories. I'm glad that he's going to be honored at the Soul Train Awards this year, it sure is long overdue. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Hopefully it sees a release. PRINCE: Always and Forever
