Thanks for the info, Harlepolis.. I'm sorry to hear that it was like that, with all the violence & craziness & whatever.. I shouldn't even try to connect this supposed Biggs-to-Winbush violence to R."nothing could be finer than to be with a minor" Kelly.. but I can't help but wonder.. if I even hear of Ronald getting with some 18 year old.. THAT will definitely be as a result of hangin' with "BumpNGrind".. You're welcome It happend early last year, I tell ya that was a shocking thang 4 real, its a damn shame cuz them couples used 2 look very good 2ghether and 15 years ain't exactly a short time 4 a high profile married couple. Such a damn shame! I love the ol' man but if he kept acting like a pimp Joe he will lose respect 4 alot of his fans. Aren't you old enough to be acting like some superfly?? Goddamn old man, just settle already, you have grand kids 4 god's sake Those are REAL PIMPS they just don't put the pimp act. Ron wouldn't put this pimp act if Robert didn't back him up lol tell you the truth? I have this feeling that it was all made up by R himself.Anyway,,,! Off topic, how old is Miss Winbush and did she have any kids from him? mistermaxxx

Maybe a change in image WAS needed, but not to this. They're fine without Kelly...trust me. "Tears" was the best song they've done in the modern era, and that was a Babyface collaboration, not Kelly. I gave Kelly his props in my post, but he can't touch these legends...no matter how much he tries to emulate them! And to mirror David's comment, to call him the king of R&B is a bit premature...ALMOST as silly as Whitney calling Bobby the original king!

Yeah, I read those comments, but in my opinion, I still think you're giving Bobby too much credit, but I digress. As far as Kelly goes, that's cool that that's your opinion, even though it's wrong! J/K! But, he could be considered the king of it now just like Puffy was considered the "king" of rap back in the mid 90's (and we ALL know that wasn't true; his albums were just selling hot and that's it; just like Kelly's are now). So, sales and top quality are not necessarily the same thing, ya know. But if you dig him so much, that's cool! We all have different styles and tastes, and we'll just have to agree to disagree on R. Kelly!! Puffy's bad rep is understandbale, as wack as he's came in recent years, but early on his sample use was pretty inspired. On his solo debut LP he even produced decent songs. Since then the only stuff of his I've dug really would be "Mo Money Mo Problems" (Making Dianna Ross into a club jam), "Satisfy You" (W/ "Kang Of Modern R&B") and "Bad Boy For Life" (great bassline). Like you say Bobby threw it away but had a vibe on Don't Be Cruel LP (And a few moments before and since) that assures him a place in music history regardless of his present state... I dug "Thug Lovin" though so who knows?

Though, I will add I do like that recent song he did for/with Nivea "Laundromat". I could've done without his vocal input in the song, as it's not needed, but it's still not a bad track!

You really find him NOT funny? I've always been a fan of his since the first time I saw him in Robin Hood: Men In Tights! And his show is hilarious, but just like our differences with R Kelly, to each his/her own on him too! But how do you figure he's "Uncle Tom" acting? What has he done or said to make you feel that way?

Kelly diss songs but I see people saying they are Dave's career highlight. There was nothing that deep or clever in obvious urinating rhymes... As for the "Uncle Tom" accusation, I think Maxxx is just hinting at the element of telling tales/mocking on/of his "own people" (R) to "Master" (The mainly white viewership/establishment). This and many other takes on humour could be seen as divisive if broken down to the elements...

What has he done or said to make you feel that way? You're kidding me?! You think Mario Joyner and AJ Jamal are funnier than Dave? Please! Dave's almost steals the spotlight in everything he's in!! And I certainly don't think people have JUST started to notice him because of one little spoof (little but still funny as shit). And you CAN'T be serious about your feeding him to Mr. Biggs comment! LMAO! Now, that's corny! Before he even introduced the spoof clips (with the lyrics based on the real song with real lyrics almost just as dumb, "Feelin' On Yo' Booty"; nice music but damn it's got some STUPID lyrics), he said how much he liked the new album, so it's obvious the guy respects at least some of Kelly's work.

Dave's comedy is no different than Richard Pryor or any other black comedian who tell jokes about blacks to an audience. The type of jokes are the same! So, how he can be more of an "Uncle Tom" than any of them? I have still yet to hear a compelling argument on why Maxxx considers him an Uncle Tom!! And, who's saying those songs are his career highlight? If they're saying it, it's because they've just discovered him on Comedy Central. They obviously haven't followed his career from the beginning!

Kelly skits just weren't that hot to me. As for "Uncle Tom", like I said it could be applied to a lot of names if taken literally to some extent or another I agree...

A tribute thread just because of the skits?! Gimme a break. If it's based on his comedy as whole that was going before the skits aired, then it's all good!
