Eh... yea.. when compared to the pop trash out now, Bruno tries to be more creative and experimental with his music. You don't have to be a super fan to at least acknowledge that. Nobody never called Bruno a genius or stellar but I tell you one thing, I rather listen to him than that bland boring Ed Sheeran. If I turn on the radio, Uptown Funk is a more quality song to groove to compared to the other garbage playing on the radio.

Honey you have written everything that I was going to write, so thanks for saving me the energy wink I would much rather listen to Bruno instead of listening to Ed Sheeran. Yikes!

lol lol biggrin

I LOVE IT. It's Gap Band, Zapp, Roger, and more wrapped into one. And I love his shirt. Reminds me of an Australian two-person band called Confection that did 80s funk like this.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

The new ice cold fro headbang music :music:

For those of you who be like "Oh Bruno became like all of them male artists objectifying women in music videos and showing booties"

Or those who say "Oh I expected him to be more lyrically advanced and write about philosophical dark subject matters"

Bruno ain't David Bowie, he ain't Drake, he ain't Prince

He's the short guy with flawless swag and incredible talent of making funky tunes that go straight to number one.

And if you want him writing about love and heartbreak, go buy his first album

By the way, this song's production is WAY TOO FUCKING ahead of its time.

Oh and I love it how he mentions "ugly ass friends"

So when ugly ass friends bitch about this lyric

He says "Why you mad? Fix your face, ain't my fault y'all be jocking"

..... truth at its funkiest.

Heard the track. It's very Zapp with a hint of Grandmaster Flash for good measure. Unfortunately, this will have an uptown funk effect. It'll be played out and played to death within a month.

And are we really comparing Bruno to Ed? Bruno is a better performer no doubt but Ed makes far and away better music. Bruno's music is just awful. Locked Out of Heaven is nice and Treasure and I guess Granade. The rest? Nah. His looks aren't enough for me to get over his dreadful music.

^^ This.

If Bruno looked like Ed Sheeran he wouldn't have a career.

This is not true at all. Bruno is the best pop performer out today imo. He plays instruments but he is more entertaining to watch. He also makes descent QUALITY fun music for his genre. Again, no one is calling Bruno Stevie Wonder or Beethoveen but he is talented and he has came a long ways. He doesn't make dumb silly songs and he actually tries to be creative with his music. I am side eyeing this stanning you are doing for Ed Sheeran.LOL Please point out songs and music that illustrates the genius of Ed Sheeran? You stanning a bit to hard over there.

Alot of Zapp and Gap Band in this. However, it's just as much of a G-funk track with that gangsta touch. The video too. Bruno Mars knows that we live in a time where the attention span is close to 0. That makes him spend a whole lot of time getting all the details worthy of attention RIGHT. It's weakness is it's lack of space. But that is also it's strength these days.

Sorry, not to be rude, but how? Love the song immensely but this sound has been done before in the 80's. Only thing that indicates this song is modern is the hip hop-esque breakdown in the bridge.

Bruno brings the heat once again.

His lyrics are corny (at least coming from him) but the production is dope as always. We need someone who can replicate old school sounds like this in pop music nowadays.

I hate myself for saying it, but this is a great lead single. A bit hollow, silly, but addictive and fun. I abhor you, Bruno! razz

No bad reviews? nice. The video is super silly. He is making fun of those kinda thangs. The beat is to die for. Made my wittle head bob.

Old school to the max. He obviously wants a blacker audience.

I agree, the lyrics are corny but the production is phenomenal. Another thing too why I feel people like Bruno is because he is funny, charming and charismatic. He doesn't take himself seriously and seems down to earth.

I haven't listened the song, but these kind of videos from Bruno, even though i think it's just his second video of this nature, is starting to get old.

I know... At first when I heard it I said, "Oh, no, Bruno!" razz Fortunately, it didn't last long and he got into a classic 80's funk groove. Thank God! The lyrics are silly but they're meant to be, like the video. But it's all tongue-in-cheek good fun and that's all it's meant to be. I like it. wink
