Kashif sound is incredible. Why he doesn't get mentioned with Jam & Lewis, LA & Babyface and Teddy Riley from the 80s is beyond me. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Probably because he didn't produce a lot of crossover hits. With the exception of maybe Nippy's "You Give Good Love", the majority of big hits he produced for other people were mostly R&B. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

It might be because his stuff generally did not crossover to Top 40 like the others. So the music press did not write about him. Kashif primarily worked with R&B singers who did not get pop airplay or very little. Pop & rock acts worked with the others like Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, Rolling Stones, Human League, New Kids On The Block, George Michael, Sheena Easton, and Boy George. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I am kind of suprised he was found alone. I thought he had two sons that he adopted.
Yeah he was amazing producer and singer. He did a good job producing work for Melba Moore and his own debut album was great. So stunned about his death and I am sure he is somewehre in this universe with limitless energy.
Overall 2016 is one of the most shitty years ever. So many deaths with celebrities and a couple in my neck of the woods.

Yeah, I know. Unfortunately, when Hip-Hop became the music of choice in much of the urban community, a lot of great artists and producers got passed over. Kashif really does deserve a lot of credit for keeping R&B alive and relevant, especially in the early 80's when there was a backlash amongst the massess against R&B music, particularly female R&B music. During the early 80s, after disco was annihlated, really the only black women who managed to maintain some kind of presence at Pop radio were Donna Summer, Dionne Warwick and Diana Ross. Evelyn King and Melba Moore did not. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I wish that Whitney had done more recordings with him.He made her sound really soulful,on songs like "You Give Good Love" and "Thinking About You".I also think that Evelyn Champagne King should have worked with him again, after her hugely successful 'Get Loose' album. His sound was perfect for her.

Sad. Kashif was one of my favorite singers and producers from the 80's. He kinda had his own distinct 80's sound. At that time if you were familiar with Kashif's sound and had heard a new song that he produced, you could pretty much guess that it was produced by him(because of the way it sounded). As the years went by, he deserved more props than what it appears that he received.
He will be missed.

My goodness... folks are leaving here. As my neighbor says, here today gone today. How in the hell does anyone die of natural causes at 56 years of age?
Kashif was an exceptional talent, RIP.

My first thought after hearing about his passing is that there had to be some pre-existing medical condition that the public hasn't been made aware yet. 56 is far too young to die from "natural causes".

These brothers here had their opwn sound in the 80s' around the same time. They didn't get as big as the other main guys with their own sound in the 80s' (Rick James & Prince) but there music was just as funky. It's crazy how four of the five artist I named are gone. PRINCE: Always and Forever
