Ten Wheel Drive, Genya Ravan, Goldie & The Gingerbreads
The common factor between these three songs(and groups/people), is singer Genya Ravan. Genya is the founder, co-founder, and lead singer of all three.
A lot of people(including me) first discovered Genya through her song Love Is A Fire, from the movie The Warriors(The Lizzies scene)...
At that time though, what i didn't know was GenyaRavan had been making music since the early 1960's, when she formed the girl group Goldie & The Gingerbreads. After Goldie & The Gingerbreads broke up, Genya then co founded the group Ten Wheel Drive. Ten Wheel Drive lasted for about 5 years and after they disbanded, Genya then started her Solo career.
Although Genya hasn't had the major hits and notoriety as some other artists, the woman does get a lot of respect from the people who are familiar with her music and the stuff that she's produced for other artist.
The songs she released in the 70's and 80's have this rough and tumble New York vibe that's pretty cool. And her somewhat gruff singing voice fits right in with the music and lyrics of her songs.
Anyway, I got mad respect for the lady.
