Beck Drops New Video For "Wow"

"Wow" is the initial single from Beck's forthcoming studio effort, which will be released October 21. The currently untitled album will also feature the track "Dreams."

i wish beck would stop promoting this song. it's been popping up on facebook messages
from his page at least 4 times a week since it's release months ago. remixes, videos or
vignettes, itunes links etc etc. it's a constant barrage lol the song is nice enough but
good lord, it's time for something new.

was hoping we'd at least get an album announcement (a title, more details) when they
dropped this, what, third video for wow? (initial clips, including the horse at the table,
which is still the best/funniest bit of vid for this, then the lyric vid, then all the fanmade
ones and now this one).

anyway, still looking forward to this album very much. beck has never disappointed me
since 1996 or so. i've loved every single album he's released since. so it'll be all good,
no doubt.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I became a Beck fan with Midnite Vultures. The next 2 albums, Sea Change and Guero, are classics.

The albums that followed were a mixed bag for me, including Morning Phase, which felt like a re-tread of Sea Change in theme and content. But I will always follow his music, he's a genuine, substantive artist.

I dig "Wow," and am anxious to hear his collabos with Niles.

That's actually a really nice video.

It's got many of the Beck video clichés - vibrant colors, cowboys, Beck himself singing the song with cars in the background, funny creatures, people acting weird, people dressed in 90's style clothes (kids, in this case)..

Just something about the overall style and pacing that works.

Flogging this single since June. I am just wondering if the rest of the October 21 album is Beck-brand hip hop.

I am familiar with his hits and Debra is good ( i guess), but this video reminds me of why i cant get into him. He's corny with no sense of cool, at all. He wants to be prince so bad, but nooooo. Ide rather listen to robin thicke.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Beck has albums that don't sound like anything in Prince's back catalog. 1999's Midnite Vultures is noted as an intentional homage.

i absolutely love beck and he's been one of my favorite artists for years.

that being said, i really think this is absolutely dreadful.

i'm afraid to say it sounds like a very lame attempt to stay relevant by adopting a modern hip-hop sound, but it just comes across as really awkward to me, and the melody is annoying.

it doesn't work like his 90s hip hop fusion stuff.

no offense intended, just my opinion, and i'm rooting for him because he really is brilliant.

maybe i'll enjoy the other stuff from the record more.
