Lady Gaga To Perform Super Bowl Halftime Show 2017

It was just announced that Lady Gaga will perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Thoughts?

Better than Bruno or Beyonce performing yet again or Coldplay.

Yes, please no more Beyawnce.....but I have a feeling she'll be performing it again within the next 10 years. She is very forced and contrived and uses her machine to force herself onto big stages like this. Coldplay was dreadful.

Im not a fan but I like the new tone down Lady Gaga. The girl is talented. I hope she continues with her strip down show and incorporating the piano. I have a feeling there will be some spectacle and threatrics but I hope its not over the top. I don't know why but I am rooting for her. I feel like the industry screwed her over.

I think she's really talented but it seems that the NFL is moving away from veteran acts. I mean my god Prince was in the industry for 30 years before he got the halftime show. So it seems that next year, 2018, we'll have Taylor Swift? Yikes....

I honestly haven't sat in front of the television and watched a half time show since Prince. I really don't care about the SB half time shows because there isn't really anybody I am dying to see. The best performance of this decade was Bruno in 2014 and I watched that online. I think the NFL is making a huge mistake of veering away from the vets. I think they should still incorporate veteran acts in some way. You have acts that have been in the industry less than 20 years getting these opportunities over veterans who haven't done it yet. The NFL is catering to the social media age stars and culture.

Yeah I think you're right. It's like they keep having female pop stars in order to attract the other side of the demographic coin, so to speak. They know they have a mostly male audience watching the game so they have a female pop star to attract women. They want to maximize the number of viewers.

I'm still waiting for an act like Bon Jovi to get the show for a change.

They're running out of big stars to carry this thing. Face it Lady Gaga is the LAST one standing.

I don't count Taylor Swift because I don't feel she's that great of a performer, and I'm trying my best to be diplomatic.

They've run through all the veterans. Bruce, Prince, Michael, Madonna, U2. Older vets like McCartney, Aerosmith. New cats like Beyonce, Bruno.

If across the board mega-artist is who they're looking for the situation will be critical.

Bon Jovi would make a good half time. Im surprised he hasn't done it yet! The NFL has plenty of people they can still choose from in terms of vets and new comers Rihanna, Taylor, Drake, etc. Rihanna declined to do half time. She could have been did it. I personally think something has got to give. The SB ratings were the lowests its been in years this year. I don't think its the lack of choices that is the problem. The problem is the political and power struggle behind the scenes with certain acts. The SB needs to be more creative and versatile with their choices instead of picking the same people. Out of all the halftimes within the last 5 years, Bruno was the only male that headlined it. Why not pair Gaga with a rock band? Do something different and unexpected for a change.

Yeah they would probably have to consider a country artist or EDM maybe in order to find artists that would have a large following but it would be bad for ratings though.

And that will also be bad for ratings too because based on this years ratings people don't want to see the same acts back to back.

I'd like to see Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, and a ton of other new rockers be on this show.

I like GaGa but I'm not looking forward to seeing her perform during halftime....I think The NFL asked Adele first and she said no...

I honestly forgot about Adele and while originally, thought that she should have performed, I think she needs more upbeat material to take the stage with at an event like the Super Bowl. Not saying that her more somber material wouldn't sound good in a stadium setting because her voice would sound excellent (and even ethereal) but Gaga has her pegged when it comes to energetic music.

Pfft, how about some rock bands again? Are any of them still together, like Duran-Duran or Foreigner or Bon Jovi or maybe some country dudes like Keith Urban or Garth Brooks?

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Bon Jovi got Richie back??? Where did you hear that? I just googled it and see no such info.

I am personally sick of all these lame, modern pop stars doing the halftime show.

Would love to see either Bon Jovi or the reunited Guns N Roses... Both would be awesome choices.

Im sorry, i think thats my bad. I read somewhere that he sent a nice message to the band. It's progress from where they were only a few months ago.

They should've just gotten Metallica. They're basically the biggest band in the world AND they have a new album to promote.

The Super Bowl halftime shows are full of shit. All these acts they've been getting for what seems like the past decade are chosen exclusively to satisy the female demographic IMHO. I'm not a chauvinist whatsoever, but Katy Perry with beach balls and dolphins, Madonna and LMFAO, now Lady Gaga?! I'm LMFAO! Guys don't wanna see that shit.

I've honestly never understood why Metallica, Gwar, Rammstein or Slayer, BANDS like that have never played. Other than the ratings game of mainstream PC America.

I'm just saying. I'm a guy, who watches football. I'd like to see those guys. Lady Gaga? Get the fuck outta here.

I agree... I'm pretty sure that their thinking is.... Guys who watch football will be watching regardless, so how can we pull in viewers who don't normally watch football so that ratings can be at their highest. Sadly, that means the halftime show will often be pop trash.

I think a reunited Guns N Roses would be a great ratings draw though. I also think Metallica would be a great choice. Just in the visuals they use alone (in their stage show), they would easily blow away the visuals of the pop artists of the past few years.
