U2 Exposed To Millions Via OWN's "Queen Sugar" series!

I consider myself a fan (not a completist) and this song escaped me. I'm just really appreciating the black love (finally) for U2 in such a major way.

Fantastic song from a fantastic album, U2's ballsiest album

We're here, might as well get into it.

Queen Sugar is a great fucking show, too. I'm not hip to all that Tyler Perry buffoonery, but Queen Sugar is spot on.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Um....okay? I know it's not Tyler Perry, ergo my love of it.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Yeah OWN has a ton of Tyler Perry product, some of which I used to be a watcher of (The Haves and Have Nots, If Loving You is Wrong). But when they went from bad to worse...

Still love Tika Sumpter!

Yeah that was my point earlier. I ignore the TP stuff on OWN. It's predictable and ridiculous, and there's too much of it.. But Queen Sugar, even more because it's not a TP production, stands out on OWN as one of the best new original cable series this fall season.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Is this thread implying that black people didn't know about U2 until recently?

Ava Duvernay is the name I believe.

What is so buffoonery about the Haves and the Have Nots and If Loving You Is Wrong?

Pretty good nighttime drama imo. Tyler just can't win. If he was doing a series on black history

involving slaves people would still complain. It is what it is. It's not like he's doing tired ass

reality shows with women constantly fussing and fighting.

The shows are definitely bad though.

What saves them is that they are nighttime soaps. You can't go TOO far with them. Just look at Scandal. Or Empire.

But the Perry shows? Ugh!

But I give him props for being successful. After a while I just couldn't hang though.

These 2 are cool. Can't get into Love Thy Neighbor. Meet the Paynes and The Browns
were pretty funny. The show with Tasha Smith have a good cast but the show is very
dry.

For me it's the pacing of the stories. Last nights 'If Loving You Is Wrong' drove me crazy. That whole back and forth between Alex and Esperanza and THEN the long ass back and forth with Kelly and Esperanza was so fucking long and annoying. He's gotten better pacing the Have and Have Nots (that show is just pure mindless, scandelous fun. That finale was insane). But he really needs to speed it up on ILYIW. It's been 2 episodes and and they're still on the same night of the kidnapping AND the cops cant even get there yet. If it continues that way I may stop. Having said that, the success of those 2 Tyler shows and the comedies have given OWN alot of power and that is why we will see top quality shows like Greenleaf and Queen Sugar.

Isn't that the modus operandi for soaps to drag them out a little to keep
viewers interested and talking? lol
I agree with you to an extent particularly For Better Or Worse. Tyler definitely
needs to push the storylines along on that show.

Yes but that was too fucking long of a dialog. Especially when the acting isnt top notch. Esperanza in particular is the worst. Why do I even bother lol.
