I knew something didn't look right about that recent photo of Jody and Howard at the airport. lol

Despite these facts, when I bumped to Howard again recently at the airport (he’d dashed out quickly when he saw me on arrival after autograph seekers alerted me to his presence) as fate would have it we were on the same return flight. Trust me he was very much the cat who swallowed the canary when I was in proximity and he had to speak..I was cordial, we spoke, I filmed a video – we on the same flight and never said another word after that. I could have confronted him for all of the lies and false statements about me but as Michelle Obama said “When they go low – we go high.”

Her post is incredibly long but she defends her postion admirably. I am siding with Team Watley on this one.

Goddamn...that was a LONG ass post!! biggrin Took me nearly an hour to read all that, lol

Honestly,I'm tired of hearing about the Shalamar drama bored it's nothing but both sides constantly accusing the other side of being shady and telling lies.I think by now,we all realize and accept that there will never be a Howard/Jody/Jeffrey "Shalamar reunion".I'm OK with that.

Jody speaks very highly of her new group,Shalamar Reloaded.I heard two songs from them and it's nothing to write home about. The songs are crap. Not sure why she thinks that her group is doing something spectacular, but whatever shrug

I'm a huge fan of Shalamar (the 1979-1983 version) and I'll just continue to enjoy their old albums.Life goes on.

Sometimes it is best to walk away. I watched Howard Heweitt's Unsung and the only time he really spoke bad about Jody was when he was talking about the BabyFace video. That was really too much information about something that I don't know how many people really care about.

Howard didn't speak bad about her then. Jeffrey was actually the one who actually
made a stern comment about Jody not wanting to do the video with a possible deal
on the table from LaFace. I haven't watched Jody's latest rant nor do I care to. It's like she's gotta be a mouthpiece these days to stay in the spotlight. Like Soul stated no one is checking or care for a Shalamar reunion with the classic lineup anymore than a Commodores reunion with Lionel. Jody just do you and move the fuck on.

I read it all. They all want to capitalize off a Shalamar reunion, but neither party can meet the other's terms so they are putting pressure on each other.

I read it too. I've been a fan of Shalamars for years and they should squash all the best and get back together. Its reminiscent of the divisions in the Beach Boys - Mike and Bruce, Brian and AL where they can't get alone either. I imagine if somewhere down the line Shalamar by chance do reunite would the fans interest still be there?.

I agree. I watched the vid. and listened, but all I'm seein' is a washed up artist from 30 yrs. ago tryin' 2 get all hip with a new lineup which borrows the same name as the once aMAZING "o-r-i-g-n-a-L." It's usually NOT a good idea for a veteran artist 2 come back tryin' 2b all hot when they're NOT.

Such is the case with Watley. Aside of her AWESOME, mostly Andre Cymone-produced debut and its followup, nothing she's ever done has really been mindblowing. Her "fashion sense," often seems 2 lack clarity and only serves in making an older woman appear younger in the sense that she looks severely dated. Her dancing as well is even dated and lacks freshness. Janet Jackson, though a similarly thin-sounding vocalist, can STILL, at 49 y/o dance CIRCLES around her. What has soured my like for Watley is how she just keeps on tooting her own horn and 30 years later, it only serves in making her appear arrogant and attention-seeking. It was time 2 move on YEARS AGO. Hewitt and Daniels did and no one will EVER remember the name, Shalamar except when/where the aformentioned two former members are concerned (including Watley). "Reloaded" is NOT gonna work. EVER. You simply CANNOT breathe new life into an old (once famous) outfit's name by using such a cliched adjective. Case in point: Until Mary Davis was reunited with the original lineup of the S.O.S. Band, there was NO RELOAD; only the addition of new vocalists and we all KNOW what the fate of THAT RELOAD was. FLOP city. Watley, though talented and driven to a point, needs to get over it and move on (solo) more than WITH a pointless reload of a band hardly ANYONE outside of the Old School R&B/Dance circle would even remember. MY opinon ONLY and no disrespect intended. smile

I agree. The whole "Shalamar Reloaded" concept is silly and stupid. She thinks she's taking the group into a new, modern direction but this new group is terrible. Also,if she is sooooo committed to this project, why did she spend most of the year touring as a solo artist on those 90s freestyle/R&B package tours? hmmm

Who is Timmy T? lol

As for Jody I did unfortunately skim over some of her rant after it was posted
on Facebook. The thing that gets me is she says she has no reason to be bitter
but yet she is the one who keeps talking about it. And if she didn't care what was said about her in regards to Howard and Jeff and both Shalamar groups why did she post all those Tweets and try to dignify them with a response. I saw the Shalamar reloaded video someone posted here a few weeks ago and I saw where she responded to a comment on YouTube although a positive one. Point is she does care how people
perceive her. She sure made it a point to let everyone know she crossed over with
her debut album and basically try to take credit for the R&B rap collaboration
revolution with Rakim. You go Jody. lol

She really bends over backwards trying to convince people of how big her solo debut was biggrin yeah,it was a huge album but let's be honest: her solo career wasn't that incredible. After the Larger Than Life album, she began to slip, commercially. Her 1991 album Affairs Of The Heart was a big flop and she never had a hit record again.

Omg! I took one look at that poster and had the same reaction. Who's Timmy T?? I love how he's getting so much shine in this post lol.

As for Jody. Good Lord she seems like a hand full. What could have possibly gone down in that group to hate Howard so much?? Please let it go, breathe and move on. Just do your own thing, or if you can bury the hatchet rejoin the damn group. But only if you have absolutely no resentment. Good grief. I'm stressed out now lol

Jody is making this into a bigger deal than it has to be.I remember after the original Shalamar Unsung episode aired, she filmed a lengthy Youtube "rebuttal video" where she felt the need to respond to things that the other members said. And now, here she is again...this time, she writes a book-length (lol) online post, saying basically the same things she said before. We get it: there is some bad blood between her,Jeffrey and Howard and that's why she doesn't want to reunite with them. There's no need to keep discussing this. She doesn't need to keep defending her decision to not do a Shalamar reunion.Honestly,I think that time has passed anyway.I feel the same way about a Lionel Richie/Commodores reunion. The thought of it doesn't even excite me anymore. It's time for Jody to (finally) let it go.

Jody has the right to tell her story in her own way and I hate when a black woman expressed her truth does it she consider to be bitter. Why Howard and Jeffery never called bitter as they were the ones who went to national tv first to tell their side.

She already move on since 1983. SHe left the group and didn't look back. She is doing things with her band and also solo stuff. If that is not moving on, I don't know what it is.

Howard still had to use Shalamar to make ends meet. He never crossover. shrug He and Jeffery sounded bitter because they know that they need Jody than she needs them. And when Jeffery had hardship, Jody came to his need financially when she didn't have to do that. But fonts on the internet are too busy to blame her for the reason why the group never reunited.

No,it doesn't really seem like she has "moved on".She took the time to write that long ass blog posting biggrin She apparently wants to keep this drama going. Why not just take the high road and ignore any talk about a Shalamar reunion (and why it hasn't happened)? hmmm Problem solved.
