Here is another version of "Love Ballad" that I enjoy.

"It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

And still can! I have his last CD. Although I was disappointed it was a covers album, I was quite surprised at how good he sounded.

"Love Ballad" was written by unheralded songwriter Skip Scarborough who produced the smooth ConFunkShun album, Loveshine. In addition, Skip wrote "Can't Hide Love" (Earth, Wind and Fire), and "Love Changes" (Mother's Finest). He co-wrote EWF's "Love's Holiday", Anita Baker's "Giving You the Best That I Got" and wrote the smash hit "Lovely Day" with Bill Withers. Rest in peace, Skip. You're still da man!

Jeffrey Osbourne is one of my favorite male vocalists of all time. Very underrated.

Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

Didn't know Skip passed. Eveything you said about him is true. He also co produced ConFunkShun

album Candy. The ballad Not Ready from the Candy album remind me of Can't Go Away from

Loveshine. He's written and produced some great songs.

Who knows? He may have been approached but, like Jody Watley, doesn't consider himself unsung. biggrin He had a lot of big hits in the 70's and 80's as a solo artist and a member of LTD on the R&B side. Not so much on the Pop side.

It should be noted that Skip wrote "Don't Ask My Neighbors" for the Emotions, which appeared on their 1977 album Rejoice and Maurice White produced. His previously unreleased song ,"Love Music", appeared on The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 1 1978 compilation album.
