Apparently, Twitter lit up that there were no tributes to either Prince or David Bowie. The garbage which is called "music" today is beyond my "old school" sensibilities. I was thinking this morning that Justin Bieber probably has made more money - cash - in the short number of years he has been on the scene than Prince did in the first 15-20 years, even with that conditional $100 million WB contract factored in. It's outrageous. And don't get me started on the no-talent Kanye West and his ilk.

the worst part about bart, is he's such a hypocrite, it's on the borderline of maybe mental illness...

he reads and studies everything about a man that he despises... it's pretty insane, he's read every book, knows every little fact... i honestly think he might be secretly in love with prince...

Sweet. cool I'm glad they didn't have a music tribute but to have no mention whatsoever of Prince or David Bowie is just criminal. Not one artist mentioned them either. And people wonder why the music industry is dying?

--Viacom let BET do their triubute and there will be nothing else coming from the company. Prince would not be surprised he knew the score about the music industry. We will not see shit on the Grammies.

I'm not talking about a musical performance. They didn't mention him or Bowie once. That's disrespect pure and simple. Both these artists helped make MTV when it first started.

I'm glad. Someone needs to let them know what they did is completely direspectful. Should have given them the madonnna treatment that people gave Billboard. Its as if Prince didn't exist or matter to them. A little mention, nothing at all! I wasnt expecting a musical tribute, a little montage would have been nice. Im born in 93' and its dissapointing what I have to look forward to in music.

He did all that for the PREVIOUS owners of MTV. You peeps gotta realize that when the new owners took over, that they didn't give TWO SHITS about what came before. Its all about business not what P did for MTV.

I agree, that was pretty evident last night. However, at the very least they could have at least mentioned him. MTV is disrespectful for this.

No. The head of the Grammys loved Prince. They will honor him in some way.

And for someone who mentioned that MJ was honored at the MTV awards failed to forget that it was the first award show after MJ's death that had time to develope a show around his death. Just like BET was able to do for Prince.

I think BET was the first to do a honor to MJ and they had to scattered last min to do. Mtv has no real excuses.

you've the Bowie clip where he backs his corner about MTV right? As for Prince talking about chemtrails..he like many, many others from a variety of scientic / engineering backgrounds have raised huge concerns about this..so why is it wrong that Prince chose to research, discuss & share his thoughts?...exactly what was his crime? He spoke over the years on a variety of subjects & was hugely respected by his peers..as you damn well know. Would you prefer to listen to Mr. Kanye West instead? Get a grip dude & stop losing your credibility.

Says who? I'm glad they didn't do anything. The show was lackluster at best, and as usual, so why bother with the tribute? It would have been half-assed. It was the Rihanna & Beyonce show anyway.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I don't mean to throw shade at Beyonce because I really was thrilled by her performance, but I couldn't help but notice how she just had to drop in at the BET Awards to do a "special" performance but then had to rush out so she could perform the next day. AND it was at a show that made a concerted effort to pay tribute to Prince. She pretty much almost upstaged the whole thing and for what?

Last night she not only stayed for the whole show, but she STILL didn't mention Prince. Anyone paying attention knew that her female formation sign was NOT Prince's symbol.

Could Paul Mooney had been right?

What did Paul Mooney say?

I am shocked they didn't recognize them. It would have been the only reason to catch the repeat. What does etc play/show these days. The last program made a point to see was Jeff Buckley hosting 120 minutes.
