How were these cats (60s' soul group "The Ambassadors") not big time? THE AMBASSADORS They move just as good, if not better than the Temptations and the O'Jays. They sing as good as the Chi-Lites or the Dramatics. Watch these performances and see what I'm talking about. They actually worked with Gamble & Huff. Their single "I Really Love You" peaked at #43 on the R&B Charts in early 1969. They didn't go much farther than that. I'm surprissed there are 3 clips of them on Youtube.

Maybe they were on the wrong label, like a too small one that didn't have the money or clout to get them a lot of exposure. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton | |

But left and dod better at the smaller Artic label (Barbara Mason most known artist there. Also the Temptones with a young Hall & Oates in the band and Gamble & Huff.) PRINCE: Always and Forever

My uncle said he remembers them, and he's from San Antonio. Maybe they got some play out in Texas. PRINCE: Always and Forever
