Rob Zombie/ Lionel Ritchie Collaboration!

Okay, I picked up the House Of 1000 Corpses soundtrack yesterday, and I declare the amazing cover of the Commodore's Brick House to be sheer genius! I mean, c'mon, what's not to love? The master of Horror Metal teams up with Lionel Ritchie to remake his funk classic? BRILLIANT, I TELL YOU!!! Add in the unlikely guest rapping of Trina, and you have a track that trancends musical boundries left and right! Plus, it got Lionel funkin' again, which hasn't happened for twenty some odd years! Rob, I salute you!

Oh, and their performance on Jay Leno last night was pretty darned cool as well! I wanna see them tour together, a'la Billy Joel & Elton John! Imagine Rob singing Hello! Imagine Lionel covering Living Dead Girl! The possibilities are endless!!!

As cool as it may be (I wouldn't know, haven't heard it yet), it reminds me of that new song that teams up Bone Thugs n' Harmony with Phil Collins. So ridiculously cheesy. And Phil's even in the video bobbin' his head to the beat, it's so embarrassing...

Actually, this is the polar opposite of that. Lionel actually seems cool in this once, and the music is a totally slammin' rework of the original. It isn't treated with a cheesy flavour at all, but with total respect for the funkiness of the original! It is amazing to listen and realise that at one point Lionel could seriously get his funk on! I had forgotten after all those years of crap like Danicing On The Ceiling

They were on The Tonight Show last night (along with a rap by Trina), but I just wasn't feeling it. It really added nothing to the song, but maybe I have to hear the recorded version before I make a complete judgement. I'd band the hell outta Trina, though! smile

The peformance on the Tonight Show was good, but the rap works far better on the recorded version.

Collins appears in a video of a rap remake of "Take me Home" as reworked by Bone Thugs n' Harmony. It's a disgrace...
