Vinyl: coloured vs black and 180 vs 120 Okay, I was just playing some records, first George Clinton's The Awesome Power (etc.) on red vinyl and then Sly's Stone Flower (a collection of rarities) on 180 grams remastered vinyl and I was just struck by how much beter the latter sounded. Still, I have some great original pressings from the 60s/70s/80s that sound great, so I'm wondering if anybody has some thoughts about this: Original pressings vs remasters Black vinyl vs coloured 180 grams vs 120 Discuss!

There is not really a diffrence of sound but more of a more sturdier record that is not so flimsy like the regular albums. Sign O The Times could really use an update for example because by the time you get to Forever in My Life that thing is scrunched compared to the CD or MP3 version which is crystal clear.
Colored Vinyl is supposed to sound weaker than black I hear. I only have Victory on picture disc and black...they sound the same to me.
I know that my Dirty Mind 180G LP in my opinion sound better than the regular 120g vinyl. It just holds on the turntable better Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I'm not a true audiophile, but I think the record player makes the most difference in sound quality. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
