During her recent support slot on Coldplay’s world tour, Lianne often performed her own interpretation of the beloved Burt Bacharach and Hal David song “Say a Little Prayer”, made famous by Aretha Franklin & Dionne Warwick. The feedback from the crowd was so positive and so electric that today, Lianne’s live performance of “Say a Little Prayer” is released to you, her fans.

This particular version was recorded at Belgium’s Rock Werchter where it quickly became one of the highlights from the festival. Check out the live performance and what Lianne had to say about the track below:

“It’s a perfect song in every way, I absolutely love singing it so I hope that I have done it some justice.”

Next month, Lianne will be hitting the road once again. This time, Lianne will be headed stateside with none other than Leon Bridges and will be touching down in Miami, Memphis, San Diego, Detroit, Los Angeles and many more cities across the country. It's due on June 10th...

'Wrong Crowd'

Tom Odell is set to release new album 'Wrong Crowd' on June 10th.

The songwriter went into the studio last year to work on the follow up to his million-selling debut album, 2013's 'Long Way Down'.

Jim Abiss sat in on production, with Tom Odell commenting:

“I wanted the songs to sound big and dramatic; big strings and melodies emphasizing the songs further – rich in musicality and holding nothing back. The album follows a narrative of a man held at ransom by his childhood, yearning for it, yearning for nature- a desire for innocence in this perverse world in which he now lives. It’s a fictional story but the emotions and feelings are obviously ones I have felt – though the stories are elaborated and exaggerated. I wanted to create a world with a heightened sense of reality.”

The video for the title track was shot in South Africa by George Belfield - check it out now.

'Wrong Crowd' will be released on June 10th. Tracklisting:

1. Wrong Crowd
2. Magnetised
3. Concrete
4. Constellations
5. Sparrow
6. Still Getting Used to Being On My Own
7. Silhouette
8. Jealousy
9. Daddy
10. Here I Am
11. Somehow

After a strong solo debut album Long Way Down, released back in 2013, Tom Odell is already a familiar and acclaimed name in music. With his sophomore record Wrong Crown, the UK indie singer-songwriter expands the scope of his music by delving into a sound that is capable of packing large arenas and delivering a great quality of sound.

‘WRONG CROWD’ BY TOM ODELL ALBUM REVIEW

Odell is able to maintain a balance, which makes most of his music modern and relevant. Though at times his lyrics are on the verge of being completely unoriginal, especially when he sings about heartbreak and lost love, Odell is able to maintain a balance, which makes most of his music modern and relevant. The title track, which opens the album, for example, is a wonderful medley of sounds, starting off with a muted beat and piano melody and eventually erupting into a synthy and beat-heavy tune with several vocal layers and a catchy, haunting whistling.

In many ways, Wrong Crowd pays homage to Odell’s influences, perhaps most noticeably Elton John. The John feel is nowhere as strong as it is on “Still Getting Used to Being On My Own” — an upbeat, piano-thumping track that also adds a string section and rock elements into the mix. “Jealousy” too has a similar bluesy feel and John’s musical influence on the young artist can be felt in moments when the piano is most prominent. Odell clearly seeks to position himself as the missing link between traditional performers like John (not to mention his rivaling piano virtuosity) and the contemporary British musicians such as Coldplay.

What makes this album truly successful is that Odell remains true to his authentic style — the piano-driven ballads that showcase his unique voice and place love and loss at the forefront. On the club banger “Magnetised” he laments unrequited love — something he is well known for since his debut, and “Concrete” is another original track that strikes with its strong chorus and catchy tune.

Though at times his lyrics are on the verge of being completely unoriginal, especially when he sings about heartbreak and lost love, an approach that seems to be working for Odell is when he gets more metaphorical rather than spelling out the situation that has caused stirred him and inspired him. “Constellations,” for example, is made to sound somewhat uplifting as a thrilling string section weaves together the piano and vocals. This is somewhat true for “Constellations” and even more so for “Sparrow,” where he addresses a sparrow and wonders, “Tell me why you’d walk if you knew you could fly.”

Odell proves that his voice is as accustomed to a large explosive Coldplay-dimension sound as it is to stripped-down, acoustic renditions. Wrong Crowd is the kind of album that clearly shows the artist’s development and his wish to deliver his authentic style with a modern and relevant punch, which he does with ease and great success.

The Last Bandoleros Performs "Where Do You Go?"

Sting & The Last Bandoleros Performs "Next to You"

The Last Bandoleros on Their Unique Name, Singing With Sting

The Last Bandoleros
Michael Loccisano, Getty Images

The Last Bandoleros are a Tex-Mex country trio made up of Diego Navaira, Jerry Fuentes and Derek James. We got to know the group when they stopped by the Taste of Country Nights studio, where they told us how they got their unique name and about that time they sang with … Sting?!

Navaira and Fuentes were both raised in San Antonio while James is from New York — different worlds — but they have one thing in common: they’ve been making music for as long as they can remember. When they decided to come together as a trio, the hardest part was coming up with a name.

“When we originally started we were looking for a name that had a little bit of Spanish or Mexican sort of flare … Every single word that we came up with that had a little bit of that twist to it was already taken. Finding a band name is so ridiculously difficult,” they collectively explain.

Last Bandoleros

They settled on just the Bandoleros, but there was already a band with that name.

“We were like, ‘Well we’re not the first Bandoleros because there’s already one so we might as well be the Last Bandoleros.’ The Last Bandoleros is cooler in hindsight, anyway.”

Together, the Last Bandoleros have been touring for the last five or six months, and they’ve had some pretty cool moments. One in particular stands out from a New York showcase.

“We were fortunate enough to have Sting join us on stage. It was insane,” they tell us. “He did our single with us and we did a cover of a Police song called ‘Next to You.’ He sang it, we played it. It was amazing … We found out the day of when he showed up at soundcheck.”

There are probably many more cool moments to come for this band. Get to know them by picking up their single, “Where Did You Go?,” now on iTunes.

Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 60 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.

Singer/Songwriter Skylar Grey Reveals Sophomore Album Title & Release Date: Exclusive

Skylar Grey
COURTESY PHOTO

Following the release of striking singles "Moving Mountains" and "Off Road" earlier this year, singer/songwriter Skylar Grey today reveals the exclusive announcement of her sophomore album Natural Causes via Billboard. Set to arrive September 23 on KIDinaKORNER/Interscope, the 12-track album, mostly written and recorded at her Park City, Utah home, which she has dubbed "Grizzly Manor Studios," follows up 2013's breakthrough Don't Look Down, which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200.

Grey's Natural Causes finds the artist collaborating with top producers including Alex Da Kid (Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors), Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Fiona Apple), Mark Batson (Jay Z, Dave Matthews Band) and Symbolic One (Kanye West, Beyonce). Stepping out of her comfort zone sonically on the record, Grey for the first time ever picks up the mic and raps during album cuts "Lemonade" and "Picture Perfect," her "personal favorite." She also reunites with her "Love The Way You Lie" collaborator Eminem, who produced "Come Up For Air," over a Questlove-helmed jazz shuffle of drums.

To fete the new LP, Grey will hit the road for the "Natural Causes" tour in partnership with official wine sponsor Eppa SupraFruta Sangria. The 12-city run kicks off in San Francisco at The Lodge at Regency on September 23, making stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington D.C., before wrapping on October 11 in New York at (Le) Poisson Rouge. Tickets will be available here beginning Friday.

Emily Estefan Inks Distribution Deal With RED: Exclusive

Emily Estefan
OMAR CRUZ
Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s daughter, Emily Estefan, has signed a partnership for physical and digital distribution with RED Distribution via her indie label, Alien Shrimp Records. The young Estefan, who has been releasing singles independently since 2015, will release a new single, “Reigns (Everynight),” via RED in September with an album due in 2017.
Don’t for a moment think that Estefan does Latin music or sounds like her mom (even though her speaking voice is uncannily similar). With a recent degree in contemporary writing and production from Berklee College of Music, and stage experience as a drummer and guitarist, Estefan sings atmospheric, bluesy/loungey tracks with electronic and funk beats. While the voice sometimes sounds like her mother’s, it definitely has it's own distinct sound.
The new deal will have RED distributing Alien Shrimp Records’ entire roster for the next three years. Estefan founded the label with the hopes that it will be a home for other up and coming artists with unique sounds. “A home should support who you truly are, not shape you to be what others want you to be,” said Estefan in a statement. “I am beyond thrilled to call Sony/RED Distribution my new musical home. They took on this little Alien Shrimp with no questions asked, and opened the door to my U.F.O.”
Check out Estefan’s 2015 single, “F#ck To Be,” here:

Paul McCartney Signs Worldwide Deal with Capitol Records

Paul McCartney at Capitol Records.
MJ KIM

The Beatle returns to his former label home, bringing his catalog with him.

Paul McCartney is returning to Capitol Records, signing a new worldwide recording agreement, the Universal Music Group label announces today.

What's being billed as a "historic deal" will encompass McCartney's entire catalog of master recordings beginning with the 1970 McCartney album. It also marks a return to the label where he started his solo career.

Says McCartney in a statement: “This is genuinely exciting for me. Not only was Capitol my first U.S. record label, but the first record I ever bought was Gene Vincent’s 'Be-Bop-A-Lula' on the Capitol label.”

In announcing the signing, Capitol also revealed that the former Beatle is currently working on a new studio album. Capitol/UMe will service the McCartney catalog -- previously with Concord -- beginning in July 2017.

Adds Capitol chairman and CEO Steve Barnett: "Paul McCartney’s association with Capitol has long defined so much of our historic legacy, and all of us here are extremely proud and honored that he has chosen to come back home. Paul’s indelible contributions to our culture are second to none, and his constant evolution as an artist and performer continues to inspire and enrich the lives of countless millions of people. We are overjoyed that Paul will be creating new music for years to come, and that Capitol will be helping to present it to the world.”

Universal Music Group chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge called McCartney's signing "a homecoming of one of the greatest musical artists of all time to the label that first helped bring his incredible music to the world," adding that "Paul's astonishing career has shown no limits -- in creativity, in commercial longevity, and in its impact on people and cultures in every corner of the globe. We are thrilled at both Capitol and UMG to be able to contribute to the next chapter."

As a solo artist and with his former band Wings, McCartney charted 39 albums on the Billboard 200 chart, including seven No. 1s. The bulk of those titles were initially released on Capitol Records. In 2007, he departed Capitol for the first time, after signing a deal with the Hear Music label -- a joint venture between Starbucks and Concord Music Group. McCartney released his next three studio albums through Hear/Concord: Memory Almost Full (2007, peaking at No. 3; 636,000 sold in the U.S. according to Nielsen Music), Kisses on the Bottom (2012, No. 5; 280,000 sold) andNew (2013, No. 3; 219,000 sold). In total, McCartney -- and Wings -- have sold 10.7 million albums in the U.S. since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991.

On the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, McCartney -- again solo and with Wings -- has collected 46 entries, including 23 top 10s and nine No. 1s.

In 2015, he visited the Hot 100 chart for the first time since 2007, and in a big way: He scored three consecutive top 40 hits thanks to his collaborations with Kanye West. "Only One" (West featuring McCartney) hit No. 35, "FourFiveSeconds" (a collaboration with Rihanna, West and McCartney) peaked at No. 4 -- McCartney's highest charting single since 1983, and "All Day" (West featuring Theophilus London, Allan Kingdom and McCartney) reached No. 15. ("FourFiveSeconds" also hit No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, his first leader there since "The Girl Is Mine," with Michael Jackson, led the list in 1983.)

Van Morrison Debuts Video for New Song, "Too Late"

Van Morrison is sounding as soulful as ever in the official video for his new song "Too Late," which debuted recently at his VEVO YouTube channel.

The clip features Van the Man performing the tune with his backing band at Nell's Jazz and Blues club in London.

SARA JACKSON-HOLMAN
TOO LATE

Label: Expunged Records Genre: Pop

sara jackson

Piano virtuoso and singer-songwriter Sara Jackson-Holman has released a new ballad, “Too Late,” off her upcoming album, Didn’t Go to the Party. Starting quietly, with nothing but her gorgeous voice and a piano, the song eventually rises to gospel-like levels with the addition of a backing chorus. “Too Late” takes the listener on an emotional, personal journey through the lens of Jackson’s voice. Check it out below.

Here’s what Jackson-Holman had to say about the new track:

I liked the idea of this song having a journey, going from my gentle resignation from my relationship, a certainty of the end, to seeing the other side and building strength in the resolution to be on my own. I have shied away from the label of “singer-songwriter” the last couple years because of my affinity for pop and hip hop music, so the style of this song, and album really, is me coming to terms with who I am as a songwriter and a musician. I am a sensitive, emotional person, and so I write songs from that place, and on this album I allowed myself to write and embrace what came most naturally to me.

Music Video: Santigold – Banshee

Santigold shares the music video for “Banshee”, taken from her recent album 99 ¢ents. The singer worked with artist Kara Walker to employ shadow puppets that seem to be having just as good of a time as Santigold, throughout the energetic video.

Rachael Yamagata On The Road

03:01 PM Tuesday 7/26/16

Indie singer/songwriter Rachael Yamagata– who NPR’s Ann Powers once called “the heir to Bonnie Raitt” – has lined up a 25-date North American tour to go along with her upcoming fourth studio album.

Tightrope Walker is due out Sept. 23 on Frankenfish Records/Thirty Tigers, marking her first new album since 2011’s Chesapeake and fourth LP overall.

The release is described as representing “an artist rebirth both lyrically and sonically” for Yamagata, with “themes of perseverance, relentlessness and owning your own power.”

The songstress launched a PledgeMusic campaign to finance the album, her second independent release. Yamagata co-produced Tightrope Walker with her long-time producer, Grammy-nominee John Alagia, who has worked with John Mayer and Dave Matthews Band.

Album pre-orders are ongoing and include the single “Nobody” as an instant grat download.

Tightrope Walker was inspired by French high-wire artist Philippe Petit, who is best known for walking between the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers in 1974.

“When Philippe Petit was asked why he walked the tightrope he responded, ‘Why – there is no why.’ This really f**ked me up,” Yamagata said. “I was devoting an entire theme of the tightrope walker to my new record: defending the weary spirit and empowering the underdog while using the high wire artist as a symbol of how to get through, but it hadn’t yet occurred to me to contemplate the why of getting through or the why of even my own art. Beyond that, why continue in an industry that I’d not yet conquered or pursue this when you have to give up so much to do so? Something propels our survival and search for happiness and it’s this desire to overcome what threatens to break us that continues to fascinate me. If you’re thinking of quitting – anything – this is your record.”

The fall tour, which will showcase fans’ favorite older songs along with the new tunes, begins Sept. 19 in Nashville.

Maty Noyes Deals With A Complicated Love On “In My Mind”

The song is the debut solo single from singer who has lent her voice to The Weeknd and Kygo.

In My Mind - Maty Noyes

Maty Noyes, the L.A. singer who made a very public debut on The Weeknd's Beauty Behind The Madness, arrives today with her debut solo single "In My Mind." Noyes, who also co-wrote and provided vocals for Kygo's "Stay," addresses a partner on the track who is making her uneasy. On the song's hook, Noyes sings, Got me running other places in my mind/ how could you even say I never tried?. It's perfect pop, crafted by Noyes and Norwegian songwriter William Wiik Larsen; the pair also wrote "Stay" together.

Noyes told The FADER over email that the song comes from an experience with a personal relationship that she was too in love to walk away from. “Love makes people do and say crazy things," she said. "Sometimes you need to escape to a place within to gain perspective and remind yourself that the relationship is worth it, even when it doesn’t feel that way in the moment. "In My Mind" talks about this need for clarity — the need for a mental escape.”

Listen to the song above.
