Please guys, I have explained Maori music, so for someone who has had NO exposure to Mexican or Spannish culture, could you tell me what the hell Tejano music is. Is that like guys with big moustaches playing thise giant guitars, or men singing rhythmic songs with lines like "Bomba sinka josa, hosay freecoalies etc". . The only Mexican songs I have heard of are the Narcocorridas, the ballads about drug gangstas, and other Latin music usually ending with some dance ending usually in "a" (Rumba, Zumba, Samba, Sumba, Tango, meringue) and images of women in fruit hats shaking maracas whiole a toucan plays a guitar are my images of latin music (Very 1945 I know). . Seriously my country is 100% British culture, full English speaking and the number of Latinos can be counted in the double figures. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I understand you, AdoreCream and I'm no expert either, but it seems that these "narcorridos" are becoming part of Mexican culture. There has always been a tradition, in all parts of the world, to sing about romantic bandits, like Robin Hood. And in Mexico there were "corridos" about the bandits/heroes of the Mexican Revolution, which really was a way for the country to deal with everything that happened in that bloody decade. And now Mexico is going through another bloody period and the music reflects that. I don't know if this helps. Maybe orger 214 has something to say about this. But the country is surely going through some turmoil and that's going to affect the culture...

Yes, indeed it has been a bloody period here in Mexico since ten years ago. Unfortunately, this has become a whole culture here in Mexico, lots of people love it; i hate them.

Any chart song that has "feat." in its title, means it barely there pop or rap singsong lyrics with one more of the following. . Extremely attractive bimbo/skank/video ho singers . So called MC or rapper going on about his rep or the groups, e.g. "Yoh! Yoh! I got so many bitches hittin switches, I am subchronic, prosonic, getting my bitches like ginantonik" Usually fat, wearing wrapparound shades and with extremely thick lips and brand name gear (Roccawear, basketball, Tommy Hilfigger etc), doing hand signs and chucking fizz or whatever they call it. . Keyed in or phoned in ping pong sounding beats and loops. . Absence of anything sounding like a real musical instrument except a drum machine beat. . Liberal usage of swear words and vulgar language . Lyrics will be about partying, drinking, sex, selling or doing drugs, copping bitches, shooting niggaz, trap houses, bitches being obedient to their nigga. . Liberal use of filth and obscenity . IQ of performers is in the 70s or low 80s at best . In 10 years no one will care or know who the performers are and what they are doing. . Yet this type of shit dominates the charts. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

And I wouldn't be surprised if the governemnt is involved with some of these powerful cartels, Mexico is notorious for corruption. The sad part is innocent civilians are the ones paying the price, in many cases with their lives. And of course, people are finding a way to profit from this by writing songs about it, but they should be aware that if they do write these "narcocorridos" then their lives are at risk since many have ended up dead. I'm pretty sure, there's a genre of music that I have not heard yet, but I tend to like any genre of music as long as I like the song. That is to say, if I like the song, I like the song, regardless of its genre. I love discovering new music, regardless of genre. If I like the music, how the music is produced and arranged, if I like the vocals, the message, and the overall package, then I like it, no matter the genre.

I don´t like those people you mentioned either and I´ve never really liked house but then I looked beyond the commercial horizon and found out that there are quite many house producers and singers that I really like now. Check out Black Coffee from South Africa, Bucie from South Africa or Miguel Migs and the songs he did with Andy Allo or Me´Shell Ndegocello. Miguel is from the Bay Area and is a pretty interesting producer. I ´m still not really into house but there are some artists in the "deep house" genre that I really enjoy listening to now. Those dudes you mentioned above are, in my opinion, unlistenable. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
