Should I go see Duran Duran live? Hi everyone, figured I'd run this by you folks to get some opinions. I'll be honest: I can't say I'm a "fan" of Duran Duran. Honestly, I only know the big hits, and I LOVE the hell out of them. "Save A Prayer", "Hungry..", "Ordinary World", "Come Undone", you name it. I don't know anything off their newer material at all. But anyway, I feel this summer's group of concert tours is really light, disappointing actually. Duran Duran is coming July 21st to the Camden/Philly area, and lawn seats are only $20! Thats a steal, if you ask me. How are they live? And what should I expect? Are they the type that stubbornly play mostly newer material, and shy away from the hits? Or is it the opposite? I'm about 90% sure I'm going to go, but I need some opinions as I'm sure more than a few of you on here have seen them before. Please help.. Get in your mouse, and get out of here!

As $20 is about the cost of a CD and you know their hits - I'd vote GO FOR IT!! They are a tight live act, churning out awesome versions of their greatest hits as well as selections from their catalog and newer stuff. I've seen them several times and I always feel light and energized after their shows. . Plus CHIC is at that stop in Philly/Camden.... for 20 bucks? I'm going to the Camden show on July 21st, got free passes from that Ticketmaster lawsuit for lawn. Send an orgnote if ya wanna hang! if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2

No way!! Thats awesome! It's funny, I tried to use my ticketbastard vouchers too, but they were already sold out for the DD show. I have like 8 pairs of comp tickets I can't even use because everyone jumped on them so quick because of the first come, first serve thing. Thats amazing you're in the Philly area. I'll be sure to send you a pm. And thank you for the insight for seeing DD live! I'm definitely going now for sure. Get in your mouse, and get out of here!

Really want to go but the timing sucks for me and I can't . I can't even miss the beginning of the show and see them later, cause I love Nile off

I say go. They put on a great live show, always have lots of energy. Lebon is a great man and he sounds great live. You may come away being curious about their album cuts more so than just the hits. Did you order a pizza ma'am? Prince- UTCM

Absolutely. Terrific live act! They do play some new material but it's not like it's the majority of the concert. I think they only do around 5 songs from the new album. They still play the majority of their older songs that I'm sure you are familiar with. Actually, as someone who likes their newer material, I wouldn't mind if they played more of it, but I understand that wouldn't go over so well with most of their fans.

Have you seen them in 2016? They sound the same as they did in 1986. So if you liked them, why wouldn't you like them now?

Yes Yes Yes!!! Lucky that you are able to go at such a cheap cost. I saw them last year at the start of the Paper Gods tour and that was one of my fave shows that they put on plus with Chic opening is a huge plus. Chic definitely sets the tone and you would want to dance the night away. It's a good mixture of new material as well as familiar hits and not so big hits that it pleases all types of fans. I do recommend getting or at least listening to their latest release as well. I'm going to see them again in Las Vegas at the end of the month. Hey! Sorry it's taken me a couple days to check in, been a hectic weekend so far. So since I last checked in, I sort of took a crash course on DD. You must understand: I was born in 1986 so my introduction to DD was The Wedding Album way back in 93. My stepmother had the record at the time, and its been quite some time since I've listened to it before I dusted it off yesterday. And you know what? Minus a couple particular things they were toying with that totally screams EARLY 90s, The Wedding Album has aged pretty well. So needless to say, I wasn't around in the 80s when they were crushing it. Also, there were songs I heard yesterday during my listening session that I had heard before that I loved and never knew it was Duran Duran (I'm too embarrassed to admit which ones but one involves Nile Rogers that eventually became a sample for a very famous and deeply respected rapper ). I also checked out the new album for a little bit since its the record they're touring for, but I only got through about half of it. It was a bit too modern for me, and not really in a good way. The track with Nile and Janelle was pretty cool though, and I commend them for making the efforts to try new things. But in conclusion: I'm totally going to the show, especially since I educated myself the way I did and was thrilled with what I walked away with. Also, there's even cheaper tickets on stubhub than the 20 bucks I was going to spend. Lawn seats are going for 8 bucks! At this point it's a no-brainer to go and I'm sure I'd regret it if I didn't go. Thank you for all the input you all chimed in with! And of course I'll type up a little review after the gig.
