What was the first Album and the first Single you ever purchased ?

This might be fun biggrin

.

My first album was 'Chart Attack' a compilation album on vinyl as a kid in 1982

https://www.discogs.com/V...ase/964927

i bought it for the talk talk, grandmaster flash, and musical youth tracks but liked most of it

.

My first single was "Maneater" by Hall & Oates on vinyl 7" in 1982. I knew all the lyrics by heart.

My first single was The Living Daylights by A-Ha, but that was more because I liked the James Bond film.
My first LP was Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent d'Arby, both in 1987.

I didn't exactly buy these myself, but I was in the stores and picked them out and they were bought for me.

45 (I got a 45 by The Flintstones at the same time, but don't remember what it was called)

LP (I don't remember which one was first or if they were bought at the same time, but I still have them)

The first CD I ever bought with my own money (as opposed to someone buying it for me) was Michael Jackson's Invincible album. I got it the day it was released so I must have been 11 at the time. I got the one with the blue cover.

I've never been one for buying singles but the first one I got was Justin Timberlake's Cry Me A River. The slightly pervy video had the song stuck in my head so I went out and bought the single, which I still have, complete with receipt. I can't believe I paid 5 euro for one bloody song sad

The first album I ever bought was either Sesame Street Fever or Kiss' Love Gun.

I don't recall the first single, but it was possibly "Breakdance," by Irene Cara.

I played it last night for the first time in decades. It's both really good and really bad. Such was the '80s. biggrin

I can't remember the exact first single and album I actually bought as a kid with my own money. But one of the first (if not the very first) single I bought was Take A Chance On Me by ABBA. (yes I'm that old). It was awhile before I was able to buy an entire album but one of the first albums would probably have been Diana Ross's Diana album. That was after hearing about 6 out of the 8 songs on the album already played on the radio. This was back when radio playlists weren't so restrictive.

The first album I bought with my own money was the Grease movie soundtrack. I played that to death.

I can't remember exactly the first single I bought myself, but the first single I owned (my parents bought for me) was "Hot Line" by The Sylvers. I still love that song today.

Maybe Jungle Boogie by Kool and the Gang or That's The Way I Like It by K.C. and the Sunshine Band. Or it might have been the J-5's Dancing Machine... Who knows? razz lol
