So, I watch this little brotha on The Tonight Show, named Gallant. He performed a song called "Weight In Gold" with a falsetto that could knock Maxwell off his perch a bit, or at least rattle his cage. I hear a lot of Maxwell, D'Angelo, and Prince in this kid. I've not heard anything else from him (yet), but I liked it.

I have his album Ology. It's pretty solid album if you like falsetto r&b. I would tell you more but the majority of my listening recently has been Prince.

If you are looking for another new artist, check out Ro James. His debut album is slated for release this year.

I really liked his collaboration with Jhene Aiko, Stepping Stones, has a great 60s soul vibe. I was eagerly anticipating his debut album and it got good reviews, but Prince dying kinda sapped my desire to listen to anything else for the forseeable future when I come out of this funk I intend to give it a listen.

I kinda like his stuff, but it remains to be seen if he's here to stay. Hope he will. Gotta say that Tonight Show performance was insane, the standing ovation's well-deserved.

Surprisingly solid vocal execution and a fresh musical arrangement. I'm gonna check out his new album. Thanks for the clip.

Listening to the album now on Spotify..near the end of it and OMG...haven't heard a SOLID R&B album like this in YEARS!!!! Such a breath of fresh air. Definitely purchasing this on iTunes. It's a must. "Percogesic".... This song is going to be on repeat for a few weeks.

I like Ro James too..."Permission" is my shit...but his album is just ok to me. However, it's great to have some solid guys bringing R&B back to what it should be.

This guy is real good. Too bad I'm on a budget or I'd go see him.
