I seriously don't know any successful band directly influenced by Radiohead. Why are they above Bowie? God, they're obsessed.

1. ive always thought radiohead were a complete load of ole dreary shite and that whatever they had they ripped off from folks that came before - maybe i missing something ? but i just dont like them and literally cringe if i hear them or see them on tv . so having radiohead at the top of the list imho is a complete load of b***** - dont mean to offend anyone thats a radiohead fan that just what i think . 2. Theres a lot of influential artists not even on the list ! . 3. i do think about one third of the list has 'some' relevance (as without analysing it too much cos i dont have the time) these artists were influential to greater and lesser extents imho - . The Jesus and Mary Chain Stevie Wonder Talk Talk but theres load of influential artists not on the list ! . 4. i used to buy nme back in the 80s when it was pretty good - but todays music press is a sad reflection of the corporate packaged forumulaic music industry...im not gona waste any more time on this thread and nme's bullshit - bye for now...

The fact that Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, and James Brown is not on the list makes this list total bullish!!!
They have Prince at number 20 BUT place Aaliyah above him? I love Aaliyah but she most certainly should not be placed above Prince!!!

Any list based purely on "influential" artists that doesnt include Michael Jackson, Sly Stone, James Brown or George Clinton but DOES feature Kanye West is obviously either done for a laugh, or by someone who has no idea what the term "influential" means. How can Dr. Dre be here if George Clinton is not. Without George Clinton's "influence", Dr. Dre would not exist. Michael Jackson, love him or hate him, would have to be at least in the top 3 along with Elvis and the Beatles. I hate the Beatles but their influence on the music that followed is undeniable. Elvis is one of the main guys who is credited with bringing black music to a white audience and like it or not, is extremely influential to acts that followed. Springsteen often names Elvis as an influence. Michael Jackson helped shape the modern pop music with music videos, live performances and dance moves that have been imitated ever since. Ask pretty much any modern pop star who their biggest influences are and I bet most of them name Michael Jackson. Fucking Radiohead. The list is a joke. It has to be some sort of publicity stunt. I've never even heard of half the people on it. | |

It does look like they made a list of people with a lot of their own style and originality, and maybe the frontrunner or pioneer of more recent sounds. | |
