"Orlando shooting pity party" That's enough to show you have zero class or humanity. Maybe you should sit your bitter sounding ass down.

I am not much of a fan, but she should go on as long as she can. She has out lived both Prince and Michael, she must be doing something right.

Great song, that's how she feels, it must be really painful.

Yes it gives a glimpse into how she feels sometime. Rebel heart was an okay album but there are lots of autobiographical moments

Well that's just not true is it?

Don't worry though, she'll do her own tribute, and it'll no doubt be fucking terrible.

RH had so much potential, definitely her best since COAD. I just think it was so poorly edited.

I loved the electro/"Urban"/experimental shit...i always love R&B madonna the most (duh)

If it would have been a lean and mean 10 tracks

Inside Out

Iconic

Unapologetic

Holy Water

Best Night

Heartbreak City

Sex

VVV

Illuminati (should have been the title song)

Wash All Over Me (gorgeous)

Joan of Arc(would have been a great suprising closer)

There's too much riff raff. And the single selections were...Bitch I'm Madonna? Really? The Gen Public has no idea from the singles they heard that there was some actual decent stuff.

I skip the first 3 songs every time i listen, oops!

I loove me some Girl Gone Wild...but Living for Love never quite connected for me. The intro is sick, as is her voice on the track, as is the build up - but then the chorus kills it for me. It could have had a Crystal Waters vibe, but the gospel choir and that rave shit in the middle...eh!

I don't think she has gotten worse over the years, despite her poor performance at the Prince tribute. She has shown more perseverance in the charts than almost anyone, and only in the recent few years has she stopped having top 10 singles. I know that doesn't mean it's quality, but hardly the picture of disaster. Her concerts still sellout. I have never been a big fan of her personality and she is no way the artist that Prince has been However, have enjoyed several of her albums and not just her ealier ones. At the very least, they make indoor exerrcise more enjoyable (faint praise, I know)

She needs to try another avenue besides dance pop. She's in her lat 50s now. Even Bowie the chameleon tried to mature. The thing is Madonna knows there are only so many ways for her to stay relevant. She's never been a good singer so she can't just sing torch songs in adult contemporary genre. She needs to get out of music performance and maybe be someone who discovers talent and produces rather than trying to be the star. Problem is her ego won't let her NOT be the main attraction.

She's self obsessed. She will at some point. She may have to write one about her love affairs, one about the business, and one about her music.

I think she should keep on GOIN'! She's SUCH a powerful woman, a positive role model 4 SO MANY and who cares how old she is???? We're ALL gonna be "old" one day, so unless WE hope 2b victims of ageism (publically, in the workplace, etc...), then we might perhaps grasp our OWN mortality and through it accomplish what Madonna HAS accomplished and conTINUES 2 accomplish. She's an intensely hard worker and she never gave up. THAT = one KICKASS lady! I personally would like her to pay closer attention 2 what she issues as singles tho from "new" projects. The "Rebel Heart" singles seemed not 2b the BEST choices and not in the best order. Comeback-wise, "Bitch, I'm Madonna" should have been first, "Best Night," second and "Living For Love," third. LOVE her and wish her the best ALWAYS! smile p.s. Age ain't NUTHIN' but a # and society owes a LOT 2 her. She's a definite TRAILblazer for woman, for men, for huMANITY. <3

Oh really? I think I missed those contributions. Would you so kindly enlighten me to what exactly "society" owes her? And by the way, what society? Swaziland's?

Where are you reading "contributions?" I never mentioned any "contributions." I mentioned that "Society owes a lot to her." I won't get into that tho. It's been clear for decades how she's impacted women and society with her no nonsense truth-telling lyrically and otherwise. smile

I personally like Madonna's music. I like it in the same way I like white Michael's music: i love listening to it, but I recognize it's pop-radio fabrication.

Madonna is a mediocre talent. She can't sing, she can't dance, she can't play an instrument at a minimally professional level and she'd be lost in a studio if alone. But she had what Michael, for example, never had: a IQ above 20. She is very smart and that's the reason she became what she became. Madonna managed to stay relevant after all those years. I enjoy her music and she keeps on giving. I give her credit for that.

Just read this after having read your first note. She's not MUCH of a vocalist, BUT, she DOES HAVE a tone that resonates with the music-buying public. It's along the lines of Karen Carpenter (whom she cites as an influence.) Another singer in the Carpenter tradition is Gloria Estefan; not much of a vocalist either, but who has a "tone" that people seem to gravitate toward. I hope I didn't come off as "bitchy" in my last retort 2u. Just trying 2 understand. <3

Her last great album as far as I'm concerned. I was a fan for years. Not of her image but musically. She's always used great songwriters, musicians, and producers. I saw her once in the 90s and I was blown away by the production of the concert. It was like Cirque du Soleil. Worth every penny.

Yeah I agree it's a timeless masterpiece that could have easily come out today and still been successful. I do feel there's a lot of appropriation on it but it universally spoke to so many people and is one of her most authentic efforts

Having lost so many legends already this year, I don't really want the few we're left with hanging up their dancing shoes.

Plus, her Rebel Heart Tour last year was her best tour in ages. The album had some great tracks on to, but a bit too much filler to be a classic.

It definitely looked visually pleasing from the clips I saw and some of the older song choices, but she's eaten up my money long enough so I opted out this time. Hope she keeps doing her thing but has her menopause behind closed doors lol

You didn't come off as "bitchy". You're just trying to defend Madonna with education and constructive arguments.

Look, I love Madge's music. Really do. But I don't see any talent in her apart from her marketing capacity and capability of conducting a career. Musical talent though? Nope. Prince and MJ are the Alps to Madonna's valley little hill. She's not even comparable to her peers. I know this hurts her fans but I think that, in their heart of hearts, they know this full well.

I ain't a fan but her age shouldn't be a factor. Plenty of male 'artists' her age & older are still going strong.

co-sign. she has lost her way now that she has been on the mountain top for 30+ years. her behavior in the last 10 years had made it clear that she has no grace or self-awareness. that's a very bad look. much more similar to MJ and his peter pan crap than she was to p who seemed to be settleling into the elder statesman role. madonna does herslf a great disservice carrying on the way she does. sad. confused

Are you seriously comparing Madonna's behavior to MJ's? Look, I love MJ and all, but comparing his mental health (or lack of it) and everything it entails, like "self-awareness", to Madonna's is a bit of an exageration. When it comes to being batshit no one comes close to our beloved Wacko Michael.

And I say this as a huge MJ fan.

Madonna has had many ballad hits on the AC charts over the years so to say she can't sing Adult Contemporary music is just false. Everything from Live to Tell, Rain, Power of Goodbye, You'll See, This Used to be My Playground, Frozen, Take A Bow and many others too numerous to name.

So to say she has only done uptempo dance pop is not true.

David Bowie may have matured but he continued to do rock songs on an album like The Next Day, but no one ever said he's too old to rock and why doesn't he mature? Men are never too old to rock, but women are too old to dance, I guess.

No, we don't know that. How is that someone with no musical talent can continue to be successful for so long? You can't be successful just on marketing, you have to have good music to market. How can you love someone's music but say the person who makes it has no talent. It's illogical.

Now I agree she wasn't as good at playing instruments as Prince, but she does write excellent songs and has a much more pleasing voice than people give her credit for. Michael Jackson didn't really play instruments particularly well and required a lot of help in his songwriting from other people.

What I find odd is why do fans of Prince and Michael Jackson need to knock Madonna down and undermine her talent? Are you that insecure with their place in history? I rarely see Madonna fans saying Prince and MJ aren't talented. They don't need to knock someone else down to make Madonna look good, we love her on her own merits.

Has there ever been a superstar who has been successful as long as Madonna has whose talent is constantly questioned. It feels like she always has to prove herself no matter how much she achieves.

I also think the original poster undersells Karen Carpenter and Gloria Estefan. They both have lovely vocals. Karen Carpenter is one of the best singers who ever lived. But for some reason in this day and age, you are only a true vocalist if you scream and yell and try to hit notes only dogs can hear. I definitely hear Karen's influence in Madonna's singing. You can put across emotion with a lovely tone, which she actually does which people rarely give her credit for.
