Axl Rose Sends Google Notices Over ''Fat Photo''

6 June 2016

Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose has a bone to pick with the internet. TorrentFreak website reports that the rock legend has been sending out DMCA takedown notices requesting the removal of an “unflattering picture” of him.

The picture shows a physically out-of-shape Rose jumping during a 2010 show at Winnipeg, Canada. The photo became the Fat Axl Meme, where users pair the image with terrible food puns and Guns N’ Roses references.

“Copyright image of Axl Rose. Please be advised that no permission has been granted to publish the copyright image so we cannot direct you to an authorized example of it,” according to notices sent by Web Sheriff on behalf of Rose.

In a subsequent statement, a representative for Web Sheriff said Rose’s owns the copyright of the photo, even though he didn’t take it himself. “We can gladly confirm that all official / accredited photographers at [Axl Rose] shows sign-off on ‘Photography Permission’ contracts / ‘Photographic Release’ agreements which A. specify and limit the manner in which the photos can be exploited and B. transfer copyright ownership in such photos to AR’s relevant service company.”

Google has yet to comply to Rose’s takedown notices.

Let's not forget -

A photographer could claim ownership of the photo, but only if they were an official photographer. If it was a fan that took the photo, it depends if there were "no photography" signs.

Axl Q&A session at the China Exchange (June 2016)

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Axl just shut the hell up -_- Just learn how to take a joke and keep it moving. I'm not surprised he's mad at this. That's like his thing. I like Axl Rose, but damn the dude really knows how to be a douchebag.
