I love Lauren Hills' voice. It's not what I would consider to be the best voice, but she sings with so much passion and that makes me love her. I also love Billie Holiday too. She has one of the greatest voices ever.

Sarah Vaughan...no one comes near her. Ella Fitzgerald great too, but she still did not have as divine voice as Sarah had.

Sarah Vaughan had a truly beautiful voice, the kind that makes you want to curl up in somebody's arms and be loved. But Ella, she just moves me though. She sang deep, but still had a lilt in her voice. Like her voice mirrored her personality somehow. I don't know. Too much beauty to be explained.

Yes I agree. Ella was great and it's not like I wanted to belittle her voice and her talent. I love both, Ella and Sarah. They had a completely different way to sing, so maybe it's not even right to compare them to each other?

This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Na, I think it's cool to compare the two, they came up in the same era, (neither of them got booed off Amateur night at the Apollo -hee hee), they moved through some of the same songbooks too. Phenomenal voices. You know what I think is real cool though? How Sarah's range could gel with any arrangement, she could follow like her voice was one of the instruments. She was sweet.

Bjork Sade Paula Cole. I saw Paula Cole live on her Amen tour and she BLEW ME AWAY!!! I was stunned. That woman has such a powerful voice, and coupled with her ability to write music as well as give a powerful performance... Well I was stunned, speechless, and unsure if I should even attempt to create music. Seriously, after watching her show I felt like that was IT! Nothing else need be done. Then the impact wore down. But it is still The most powerful performance I have ever witnessed live.
