Beyonces cover of The Beautiful Ones In my opinion Beyonce is a good singer ok entertainer she is not the ICON or legend they want her to be. What makes an ICON is originality and a brand that sets you apart from the rest not just a good singing voice And last but not least I wish she had never covered The Beautiful Ones because as everyone is saying it was so great it really wasn't please leave Prince songs alone if you try to make them your own because you will fall short of the passion and substance that he had. | |

I agree - I actually like Beyonce but this cover was so embaressing - I cringed - and I dont like covers at the best of times - but yes I prefer people dont cover Prince. Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜 | |

I couldn't agree more. I find Beyoncé to be embarrassing. It's something about not really being as great as she's trying to express she is. I do like her voice though and some of her songs. I also completely agree that with everything Prince I watch or listen to, war hi g others artists do his work is never satisfying. It's just not meant to be. I understand there's often a desire to honor him when covering his stuff, but I still can't get nothin from it. Sorry. | |

Beyoncé is one of those people who confuse exaggeration with emotion. The Beautiful Ones is such an emotional song, you really need to understand the urgency with which he meant it to be sung -- even Mariah failed to capture that emotion in her version, although it's a beautiful rendition, no pun intended.
But yes, this was not cool. What is cool is that she's including it in her tour and "young" people are exposed to Prince's music this way.
