So um, will the 2016 BET Awards just be a tribute show?

With not only Prince passing, but just in the calender year Natalie Cole, Maurice White, David Bowie, Billy Paul, Phife Dawg and members if The Pips and the Whispers.

They'll prolly do like they did a few years ago...Before & After each break an Artist will do a 2-minute Tribute..Prince will get a Solid Tribute segment similar to Whitney's....The Lifetime Achievement Award is a long segment so they have to give that individual their due...The show is now 3hrs30min long so there's plenty of time to Celebrate Life...

I doubt if there will be any tributes to Bowie but the rest certainly deserve musical tributes (although I don't know who Pfife Dog is).

Don't forget BET LOVES some Shelia E...She opened last year's Black Girls Rock ceremony...There's a 99% chance the Producers will ask Shelia to Direct the Tribute...I don't see them asking anybody else..

Maybe Jam & Lewis? But I think they would get looked at by the Grammys first (name wise.) Hell, they might ask Morris. He directed the Baisden After Dark late night show that was on TV One years ago.

I think you are maybe expecting too much from the folks over at BET. They can't remember back that far. Their musical memories only go back maybe 20 years. biggrin

Phife Dawg is the one of the members of ATCQ - A Tribute Called Quest
