I've recently been getting into Jimi Hendrix. I have the Jimi Hendrix Experience Box Set & Experience Hendrix. I want to explore more of his music but there is a lot out there. For those of you familiar with his work do you have any reccommendations? Thanks

Great album.

Between you & I, this is the only album by Hendrix that I truly did justice (By listening to it over & over).

I somehow say "The other two will matter later enough, in a period of time where I'll need psychedelic music", probably when I hit the low point?

Enjoy it though.

There are only 3 proper studio releases - AYE, Axis and Electric Ladyland, you should get all of those for sure. Band of Gypsys is recorded live but has songs that don't appear anywhere else.

Of the releases that came out after his death, the best one of the First Rays Of The New Rising Sun. It is the closest thing to a studio album that could have followed Electric Ladyland.

And I especially liked the box set West Coast Seattle Boy for a sampling of his session work with other artists, and some of the unreleased gems from throughout his career. It's a good listen all the way through.

I started with 'Voodoo Child: The Jimi Hendrix Collection' which has a 'Best Of' CD along with a 'Live' CD. Get the studio albums then work you're way up from there.

Janie said no plans for the mono album mixes to be on CD or download, vinyl only. Blues and BBC Sessions are great. The purple box set and Stages are worth tracking down, and live at Monterey.

First Rays is pretty much Cry of Love, which was reissued a couple of years ago.

South Saturn Delta, Valleys of Neptune & People Hell & Angels are where it gets into the odds and ends.

Electric Ladyland is one helluva trip

Axis: Bold As Love includes the best Hendrix song in my opinion, 'Bold as Love'

Never gave AYE much of a chance though. This topic reminds me that I should go get on it

I think that Axis: Bold as Love is his easiest album to get into.

You cannot go wrong with all three of his studio albums though.
