AHA new LIVE cd Picked up the New LIVE 2cd set from AHA this Thursday and I can easily say it is one of the best sounding LIVE cds ever!
The reason for this is the fact that they removed Crowd noise from it, but kept it for any parts where the crowd sang along. Also the music is straight off the soundboard, so U get it all. The CDs contain 20 classics that span AHA's career from 1985-present, I think the best thing about this CD is the re-working and longer jams on Songs like TAKE ON ME which now gets a rockier feel, and LIVING DAYLIGHTS which at one point gets a reggae beat. Mostof America wont notice any of the material on the CDs except for TAKE ON ME and SUN ALWAYS SHINES, which is a shame because since AHA's 80's days, they have become one of the best bands out there, their last 4 studio cds, Rival and surpass the works of Radiohead, Coldplay, U2, and even BONO of u2 called AHA's 2000 CD MINOR EARTH MAJOR SKY the best cd of 2000. AHA has become a great ALBUM ARTIST band where as in the 80's they were great singles makers. But once they recorded 1990's EAST OF THE SUN cd AHA clearly was a different Band. Also contained on disc 2 is a 20 minute enhanced portion which documents some of the 2002 tour, and is kind of a teaser for a new DVD that will be released later this year showing behind the scenes of the tour and a concert. That DVD will be through their web site and then through Import. It is a shame that AHA cannot get a label to back them in the US (wea dropped them in the states in 1993) because I feel they could get a some response, especially since Coldplay basically is AHA. Its already been stated that AHA will not do any type of Retro tour and cash in on TAKE ON ME, which I am glad for. So if U get the chance and Need a change from the USA music market, seek out the Import shops and get some AHA. nice to see a few of my favorite tracks, particularly The Swing of Things.
A shame no Angel in the Snow or Slender Frame - 2 of my favorites. I'd like to get it, but it's $35.00!!! on amazon.com. Yikes. Too bad it probably won't get a US release.

Yeah this CD will not see a US release, they dont have a deal here in the US, wea Dropped them, which is sad but strange since WEA distributes them all over europe. I'll definitely get it eventually. AHA is one of the most criminally overlooked bands, period. East of the Sun, West of the Moon in particular is an amazing record.
