Artists who've done BEST COVER tunes

I think Living Colour has done the best covers of any band. They do excellent versions of Al Green ,The Clash,
James Brown, Zeppelin...

Also Joan Jett with Everyday People,
Star Star, Summertime Blues, Elvis...

Aretha

Aretha...most of those covers she did were untouchable. When she covered your song, it became her song and there wasn't a damn thing you could do about it.

Jimi's covers were reinvented too.

The Isleys have done some great covers back in the day, and the best cover I've ever heard is Phyllis Hyman's "Betcha By Golly Wow". She, along with Norman Connors, completely outshines the original and any other covers of that song that followed it (are you listening Prince?)!!! She made it her own!

I remember Cyndi Lauper's "When you were mine",version, once again, at that time, I didn't know it was a Prince song...I had the album and always liked it!

From her songs, I was hooked on "Time after time", but anyway, I like the ones mentioned here from Mariah, Mary J, and Lauryn Hill, the others I haven't even heard yet!
