Great Link, especially the part where he is asked for the songs in the vault: "One day someone will release them...". Sounds good.

with the death of Prince, doesn't it seem like "who cares?" when it comes to Beyonce and her new album? That's how I feel right now.Not that I was a fan of hers in the first place (lol)...but now, more than ever, she really annoys me.

Agree
I dont think he was. I really feel like people exaggerate his admiration for Beyonce. I honestly dont think he was as big of a fan as people make it seem. OKAY, he performed with her in 04, there is a small interview segmet where he calls her talented BUT why is it that people make it seem like he was such huge fan of hers? Has he talked about her excessively? He has never publicly professed to being a huge fan and if he has can someone please post the link or quote? I have always felt he was a much bigger Janelle Manae stan because he always talked about her. I also do think Beyonce could have delayed the promo of her album out of respect for Prince. She literally released it 2 days after Prince away.

but you know what? I think she made a big mistake releasing her album now.The music world is focused on Prince right now.

So Beyoncé is the only act in the world who released an album on April 23rd? [Edited 4/28/16 10:51am] You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Came in here to post the same thing. The whole stage and backdrop turned purple, and played back Prince & The Revolution's recording of "Purple Rain".

There's actually a lot of overlap between Prince and Beyonce's fanbase. It is comforting to have a new distraction in the form of her album.

I didn't see that part But wait didn't he say something more recently about the Vault? like in 2014? "I was here in the beginning and I'll be here forever more"

Because the world has been brainwashed by Beyonce. Every person in or around my age (I'm 17 for reference) treats Beyonce as if she were some untouchable deity. It's one of the most annoying things ever after the Kartrashians.
Prince probably just found her attractive and that's why he agreed to perform with her. Other than that, Beyonce is not really anything special when it comes to music IMO. And yes, Prince definitely loved Janelle. Esperanza Spalding too. Oh he even mentioned Adele when asked about current artists once. I think he was asked about his opinion on Lady Gaga and he totally went straight to Adele
And hmm, I agree with you half and the other half of me agrees with others. I find it really lazy and unemotional of her to have only posted a quote about Prince without even saying RIP or something like that. It just felt rushed and meaningless to me. But at the same time, she had already announced that her album was to drop on Saturday a week prior, how was she gonna know what was to happen on Thursday? "I was here in the beginning and I'll be here forever more"

I think she'll be missing some magazine covers in lieu of Prince tributes.

Yes. Prince was really stanning for Janelle.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
No. That release took a lot of planning. Planning that had to be done long in advance and would have cost all the parties involved a lot of money to postpone. I'm more than willing to bet it caused her a lot of pain and frustration to have to continue with its release while the world was mourning Prince. Sometimes these things just happen. Death is rarely convenient. [Edited 4/28/16 18:59pm]

Unrelated to Prince, I love that line. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I agree with this entire post! I don't think he took Beyonce as seriously as some of his fans make it seem. Also, the grammy organizer talked about how they paired Prince and Beyones performance in 04 on CNN and he said that it was the Grammys idea and not Prince.... which is what I figured. I never believed he was dying to perform with her. He probably agreed to perform because he thought she was attractive and talented with potential.
Oh I actually did not know she made a quote on Prince but I still feel it could have been more and I never suggested that she should have delayed the tour but maybe push her album a week out of respect and I still feel like she could have did that. She has clout where she could have done that if she wanted too.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Lol I knew it was the Grammys' idea. Prince probably would've performed by himself, if not, with Mary J. Blige or someone he actually thinks is talented.
Oh sorry I didn't explain myself well. I've been a mess lately. Beyonce posted a photo on Instagram of a Prince quote but she herself said nothing. And yeah, she could have delayed her album for a week out of respect but then her fans would get pissed and Beyonce does not want that obviously because $$$$$$$$$$$$$ "I was here in the beginning and I'll be here forever more"

I think we all have been a mess lately but we gonna get through this....but Everytime I look back at that performance, I love it because of Prince, not because of Beyaki. I wish he had did it by his self. Something is mentally wrong with her stans.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Amen
Although I liked her last few albums, this is definitely true. [Edited 4/29/16 10:45am] If you ever lose someone dear 2 U, never say the words "they're gone". They'll come back.

I am more annoyed that some of you think that Beyoncé should cancel something that she obviously planned to release on the date that she did while using Prince's(RIP) death as another excuse to bash her as many of you usually do on this site.
I loved Prince as performer and an entertainer, I never cared about what his personality was or how he conducted his private life. And I am the same with all of my favorite entertainers. That includes Beyoncé.
As far as Prince liking Beyoncé, he always gave her daps as a vocal performer. Like in this interview:
Y-Life: Aren't y'all industries like that, to a certain extent?
Prince: At least in the movies, a successful actor can get $20 million. It's not like that in the music business. Destiny's Child brought in $93 million. How much do you think themselves actually got? It's Totally unequal.
Record executives will say, "Destiny's Child made $93 million last year." You ask them,"Why did Destiny's Child themselves only get $4 millions of that money?" I mean, have you heard Beyoncé sing? Puh-pleeze! She's ain't even 20 and she's got a voice like that! Let's kick it up to $30 million. Is that fair? They won't answer. They'll say, "You don't understand...."
And that's the context for all of the compliments that he has ever given to her from that interview and later on in life until he unfortunately passed away; her knowlegable of vocal arrangements and the execution of them. It's a shame that even some of you don't like her, you're not even willing to acknowledge that the artist that some of supposedly stanned for, might actually thought she was great in her lane and what she does. Don't mean you have to like her, but don't put words in his mouth or assign motives to his respect of what Bey's talent is. [Edited 4/29/16 10:55am]

I don't understand the hate Beyonce gets on this site. she is doing her thing like any other artist. she didn't have anything to do with Prince. Why would she be the one to postponed her album? Concerts are perfomed around the world, records are released around the world. But Beyonce get the hate for doing her thing. Girl works hard for her money.
We should respect artist, stop hating.

I don't understand people who worry about the opinions of other people. If you like her that is the only thing that matters and I have actually heard this same question asked not just on this site. How is asking this question suddenly mean people are hating on her? I am tired of this "worship Beyonce" trend like nobody can not say anything bad about her because she is so perfect", its disgusting.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Except exactly nobody has said that here and the comments made about her by you and others in this thread are completely irrational and void of all logic, bordering on psychotic. Not to mention you contradict yourself in this post. If you don't worry about other people's opinions, why are you so tired and bothered by what people think of Beyonce?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
How so? I was asking a general question.
I could less about any of these other opinions but I am not here for the dictating of what someone should or should not be saying on a topic. If someone has something they want to express or disagree to they should be able to do that after all it is forum. You make it seem like people came in here cussing and calling Beyonce out her name, pleasee. People just gave their constructive opinions on the topic.

Well whenever a thread gets made here about Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Madonna, The Beatles, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, or Boy George. The same people always go into these threads and say the same, old things over and over about these acts they don't like. If I'm not interested in somebody, I don't even look at the thread, let alone talk about them constantly. It's like people click on Youtube videos to talk trash about the act. VEVO even disabled comments on Michael Jackson videos because of this. Seems silly to me to be negative all the time, but whatever floats their boat.
There's a new book about these kind of folks You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I think Beyoncé is a phenomenal performer. She doesn't write this does she? Because if she did write those lyrics it's all a bit 'u ok Hun?' Embarrassing for me. How 'strong confident female ' role model is it to say , stop cheating and we'll be fine. How about, how bloody dare you. I'm off . Views expressed are on cursory listen k?
